This class is an opportunity for artists to draw live, nude models. The ideal student is any artist looking to sketch, work on skill sets and create portfolio pieces. A different model each week will provide a variety of subject matter for students. If you enjoy working in a relaxed, studio environment filled with other artists, then this class is for you!

Paint Your Own Mural

TUESDAYS, 6:00-8:00 PM

Do you have a wall that needs a view? You will paint your own small mural and learn how to install it in your home. Come prepared with a photo of the wall and surrounding room. Bring your own ideas or there will be a standard design available that can be used.

Drawing, Painting and Composition

PM

Geared toward students wishing to expand their skills and knowledge of composition/ drawing and/or explore their chosen painting mediums. Students will develop their artwork and painting skills with individualized help and guidance.

Watercolor II

PM

A continuation of the beginner class. Enjoy a relaxed, project-based atmosphere while learning tips and tricks using watercolors. Anyone with a little experience is welcome. Some basic supplies will be available but artist are encouraged to bring their own.

Tips & Techniques in Clay

TUESDAYS, 6:00-9:00 PM

Students will be taught wheel and hand-building techniques and will work in stoneware clay. An emphasis will be placed on understanding clay formation, glaze application and decorating techniques. Students will learn clay preparation, hand building techniques, wheel throwing, proper drying, how to load a kiln, how to glaze pottery and final critique of finished work. Studio tools available include pottery wheels, slab roller and an extruder. All are welcome from beginner to expert. Come with ideas about what you would like to build or come see our facilities and projects and let your imagination and hands get to work creating. This class is not part of the Annual Clay Club. No experience needed.

Performing Arts

Adult Ballet

A little dance, a little exercise and a lot of fun. Whether you are a first time ballet student or someone looking for a little “refresher” course, adult ballet is great for all. Tutus and tights not required—just clothes that you feel comfortable moving in!

Intro to Ballroom Dance

PM

Each week the class will introduce students to the basic steps of one or two partner dances. Working with Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Salsa, Cha Cha, Swing and more, students will learn the principles of Latin and smooth dancing. No partner necessary.

Foxtrot

Learn a classic partner dance that will have you gliding across the floor like Fred and Ginger! In this class, students will learn intermediate and advanced figures to challenge themselves and impress their friends on the dance floor. Basic ballroom encouraged. Private lessons to get up-to-speed are available for beginner students.

For students who have an interest in animation, character design, acting and kinetics.Create your own character and watch her/him move around on screen. Students completing the course will take home a DVD of animations the entire class has created. Experimental animation at home or in previous classes preferred but not required.

Kids Pottery Wheel

Explore the potter’s wheel and hand building focusing on function, form, and expressing what has been dreamt in the mind into objects made by your hands.

Art Exploration

Students will complete several pieces of art while learning the elements of design. Projects include: painting, multi-media sculpture, printing, drawing and collage.

Intro to Comics

An Introduction to comic book storytelling. Students will learn about the components of creating one, techniques in drawing and approaches they can take.

Magic Hat

Learn how to perform magic with cards, coins, rope and other everyday items. By the end of this class, children will have a box of magic that they can fool their friends and family with! Everything is provided as well as the magic box to store your secrets in.

Afterschool Theatre

This fun and supportive environment will allow even shy students a welcome opportunity to take the stage. Learn basic theatrical vocabulary, the principles of voice projection, and storytelling skills through improvisation and game play.

This intensive workshop is for high school students aspiring to have a career in the visual arts industry. We will work on compiling a dynamic portfolio demonstrating each student’s abilities, discuss ways to build skill sets and research schools and jobs that exist in the creative industry. In addition, each week students will be presented with a mini design challenge that will enable them to practice specific skills within a studio setting. If you are interested in working toward your future as an artist, then this workshop is for you!

Adult Ballet

A little dance, a little exercise and a lot of fun. Whether you are a first time ballet student or someone looking for a little “refresher” course, adult ballet is great for all. Tutus and tights not required—just clothes that you feel comfortable moving in!

Intro to Ballroom Dance

Each week the class will introduce students to the basic steps of one or two partner dances. Working with Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Salsa, Cha Cha, Swing and more, students will learn the principles of Latin and smooth dancing. No partner necessary.

Argentine Tango

, 8:00-9:00 PM

Learn a classic partner dance that will have you gliding across the floor like Fred and Ginger! In this class students will learn intermediate and advanced figures to challenge themselves and impress their friends on the dance floor. Basic ballroom encouraged. Private lessons to get up-to-speed are available for beginner students.

Spring WorkshopsGlass & Tile Mosaic Design

PM

Students will need to bring their own object to mosaic (a small table, picture or mirror frame, or object of their choice). Students won’t need the object for the first class and so can find out more about what objects work well for mosaics.

Irish Social Dance

Singles, partners and families will love taking this Irish Social Dance class. Only real requirement? A sense of fun and the ability to count!

Just Us! SeriesPaint an Element Mural

TUESDAYSPM

Take your son or daughter’s passion and create a signature element for their room— together! A sail boat, a dinosaur, a panda or a parrot—you will learn how to scale up a favorite item, transfer and paint it on special fabric. Then learn how to install it in the perfect place. It will look as though it was painted directly on the wall but can be removed if or when it is outgrown. Little or no drawing experience needed. Some knowledge of wallpapering helpful, but not necessary.

Adventures in 3-D

TUESDAYS PM

Explore the wonderful world of 3-D! Work with plastic, wood and wire to create mobile movement sculptures. Building and construction techniques will be introduced. Repeat students are welcome as there will be new projects.

Students will have fun putting things in “perspective” by creating monochromatic self portraits, sculptures, murals, rainbow watercolor designs, blow paint and Styrofoam printmaking. Repeat students are welcome as we’ll be doing different projects.

Photography is one of the most powerful forms of communication that exists in our modern world. This class will expose students to the power of a camera, while focusing on the subject that exists on the other side of the lens; people. Each week students will experience how to approach taking photographs from the position of the art director, artist, and even as the individual being documented.

Animation and Film Lab for KidsInstructor: Anne Morningstar

Students will discover the art of animation and film with this entry level class. Each week students will be given a basic plot, script, and/or situation that they must then translate into an animated form. Students will use a variety of mediums and techniques to create their films each week, including: color pencils, cut paper, graphite, markers, themselves, and much more! Students who complete this session will take home a DVD of the entire classes’ work to show friends and family.

Kids Pottery Wheel

Taking clay to the next level exploring the potter’s wheel and hand building focusing on function, form, and expressing what has been dreamt in the mind into objects made by your hands.

Exploring Art with Nature & Fairies

This class is designed to explore different arts & crafts mediums with a focus on nature and fairies. Topics include drawing nature from life, crafting nature people, drawing/painting watercolor fairies, and creating a fairy house.

Large Scale Art

Learn how to paint big! Have you designed something really cool in the margins of a notebook and want to see it on a big panel on display? This is the class to make it happen. Class requirement: ENTHUSIASM!

Magic Hat

Children love magic, and they always want to the know the secret of how the magic works. At the end of eight weeks they will have a box of magic that they can fool their friends and family with. They will learn how to perform magic with cards, coins, rope, and everyday items they can find at home. No fancy props are need, everything is provided, as well as a magic box to store their secrets in.

Afterschool Theatre

The fun and supportive environment of the class will allow even the shyest of students a welcome opportunity to take the stage. After the session, students will have a grasp of basic theatrical vocabulary, the principles of voice projection and storytelling skills through improvisation and game play. The class will culminate in a performance of a scripted work for parents and friends.

Dance Video

Not just for dancers, this class will teach students about all aspects of video production and editing. Choreography, story, filming and editing will all be done by the students resulting in their very own music video.
