Cantata Fills Sanctuary with Song and Music

This year’s Easter Cantata, presented on April 14, filled the sanctuary of Community Reformed with the inspirationalstory of Jesus’ sacrifice and resurrection.

The presentation was Russell Mauldin’s Rise Again. An interweaving of favorite old hymns and revival songs withoriginal pieces, along with a powerful script, Rise Again enabled all who were present to experience the love of Jesus-his life, his works, his sacrifice, and his triumph over death.

Many thanks to Laurie Bonesteel, our director, for her talent, leadership, and dedication in bringing the Cantata to life. And thanks to the choir, ensemble, and our narrator Jim Colbert for bringing this experience into being.

Milestones in Faith

April 21 was a special day in the life of Community Reformed as two young people, Isaiah Crosbourne and Harmony Bredice, were baptized.

Baptism is the physical sign of Isaiah and Harmony’s adoption intoGod’s family, signifying their entrance into the church universal aswell as their adoption into the Community Reformed Church family.

During the baptism, each member of Community Reformed promisedto assist and support their journeys of faith throughout their lifetimes.

Congratulations to Isaiah and Harmony.

Harmony is the daughter of Sue and Barry Bredice, and Isaiah is theson of Ana and Roy Crosbourne.

Quilt Group Converts Your

MOM donations into Blankets

of Comfort

Lou Ann Connelly

Thanks to your generosity in February’sMission of the Month, two dozen needynewborns will be welcomed to theworld with warm, cozy blankets.

Newborns in Need, our Mission of theMonth for February, began in 1992when its founder,Carol Green, begansewing colorfulquilts for the

neonatal intensive

care unit in her local hospital. At thetime, she just wanted to bring warmthand beauty to a naturally stark andsterile environment.

Later, when she moved to the Ozarks of Missouri, her mission changed toproviding baby necessities for families inpoverty. By 2009 she had built anationwide organization that sends out35,000 baby necessities a month.

Over the past months, the Sew andReap Quilt Group has worked onconverting your donations into colorfulflannel baby quilts. Their destination is

the Western New York chapter of thisinterdenominational organization, where they will bring warmth andcomfort to many babies who otherwisewould go without.

Thank you so much for your kindness insupport of this mission.

Help Needed: Using your gifts

Have you been looking for an opportunity to use yourgifts to benefit our church in some way?

The Newsletter staff could use a couple of “understudies” to act as back-ups for the positions of editor and lay-out designer.

The job of editor requires well developed reading andwriting skills and familiarity with CommunityReformed’s programs, leadership, and missions, or thewillingness to develop that closeness.

The job of lay-out designer requires computer skills andan email account.

The Nursery needs a volunteer with leadership andmanagement skills to oversee maintenance of supplies, toys, furniture, etc., as well as scheduling of our already

excellent and faithful team of childcare volunteers. If you feel called to any of these positions, please seeKathy Jubert. For more detailed information about theeditor’s job, please see Lou Ann Connelly. Please talkto Shawn Turner for details about the newsletter lay-out job.

And “Thank you” for any help you can give.

Last month we shared recipes for greencleaners for porcelain and tile. This month wefocus on kitchen counters. The information below is from www.thedailygreen.com.

The room where food is prepared, stored andoften enjoyed requires constant vigilance.Splatters, spills and errant crumbs can build upand collect out of sight, encouraging harmful bacteria.

Baking Soda and Water: Reclaim counters by sprinkling with baking soda, then scrubbing

with a damp cloth or sponge. If you havestains, knead the baking soda and water into apaste and let set for a while before youremove. This method also works great for

stainless steel sinks, cutting boards, containers, refrigerators, oven tops and more.Kosher Salt and Water: If you need atougher abrasive sprinkle on kosher salt, andscrub with a wet cloth or sponge.Natural Disinfectant: To knock out germswithout strong products, mix 2 cups of water,3 tablespoons of liquid soap and 20 to 30 dropsof tea tree oil. Spray or rub on countertops andother kitchen surfaces.
