Gentle Thought for the Day

Aging: Eventually you will reach a point when you stop lying about your age

and start bragging about it..

Dustin’s Cobra Unveiling

On February 10th, Sam and Theresa Pietzold invit-

ed the club and other friends to the unveiling of

their son‟s Dustin‟s beautiful 66 Cobra. Dustin was

home on leave from the U. S. Air Force to finish

the car and enter it into the Salem Roadster show.

We‟re all wondering if the smile has left Dustin‟s

face yet!

New WVSR Club Members

The Salem Roadster Show had another great turn out of

different show cars from around the Northwest. Thanks

Greg and Bob. Car stuff going on for March is the Port-

land Roadster Show the 18th thru the 20th at its new

location the Expo Center. The Eugene Roadster Show on

the 26th and 27th. PIR/Portland swap meet March 31st

thru April 3rd. And March 5th is the First Annual Swap

meet in Keizer, I believe at the Volcanoes Stadium, Don't

forget for those who like shop tours, Sat the 26th of

Feb. there will be a shop tour at Ron and Sandy

Stogstill's. I've been there before and they have a lot

of neat stuff. This is a must see if you like shop tours.

We usually meet at the Guest House on North Portland

Rd for breakfast at 9am and leave around

10am. Thanks Greg

Robert Kundelius has been working on his „51 Chevy this

winter and it now sports a new paint job with a “flying eye”

dash by Don Erickson. Looking good Robert!

Getting to Know You

Sandi Norris and Michael Simpkins.

When I met Sandi, she made me feel very welcome to

WVSR! She always greeted me with a smile, always asked if

I had a place to sit, and in general just put herself to the

job of being a great "greeter". Sandi is sharing responsibili-

ties of the Membership this year with WVSR's Ray Agen.

Sandi did this alone last year, but with so many new mem-

bers being added, and the fact that Sandi holds down a

pretty demanding job, this year she is sharing the task. She

had no car of her own, but shares the love of the classic

cars and the WVSR "family".

Sandi is from the South coast. I have always liked that area

(Ken Parsons came from there as well), and I can't imagine

not living there! But Sandi insists she likes Salem!

Corvettes, corvettes, corvettes! Sandi lives and breathes

her love for Corvettes, but most recently seems to live and

breathe for her new guy (and new WVSR member) Michael

Simpkins. Recently the couple were judges at the WVSR

Valentine's dinner. They make a really cute couple!

Michael Simpkins is a computer guy. He is very quiet until

someone gets him to having fun! I think he is a very nice

guy. He does not have his project yet, but we all welcome

him with open arms anyway! I know you WVSR guys will

bring him into the club, help him out, and show him the

ropes. Michael will tell you more about himself as you get to

know him. For now, I am pleased to call him my good friend

and fellow car club member!

WVSR is all about cars, family, friends, and fun. If you want

to have a conversation about any of that, these are the

folks to talk to, and if you know someone who wants to be a

member, send them Sandi's way.

Ernie and Laura Lamoureux in their '26 along with Mike and

Lynn Vickers in their '69 one recent Sunday near the Harris

covered bridge outside of Philomath and the Rittner Bridge

in Kings Valley

Club Members Adventures

Valentines Day

On Friday, February 11th, many of the club mem-

bers got together at the Salem Heights Hall to

enjoy a dinner out for Valentines Day. Everyone

enjoyed Prime Rib or Chicken Cordon Bleu plus

desert. And I understand some liquid refresh-

ments were also enjoyed by many. After dinner,

Russ, Margie, Ken, and Vicki surprised everyone

with WVSR‟s version of the Newlywed Game. Un-

fortunately Bob Eubanks couldn‟t make it so Russ

did an excellent job standing in for him.

Tom tries to guess what Jane‟s answer was

Dinner looks yummy

Pam, what was Jeff‟s answer to

“What color dress did Pam wear on your first date?”
