Operator’s StationBased on the popular Caterpillar® 500D-Series Soil Compactor operator’s station, the 400E-Series operator’s station features excellent operator comfort and visibility.

Operational gauges. Steering console and operationalgauges are infinitely adjustable within the tilt range to thedesired position of the operator. Entire console tilts forsimple entrance and exit.

Single lever control. The single lever control for propeland vibratory On/Off provides simple and low effortoperation. A padded adjustable wrist rest helps reduceoperator fatigue.

Seat. Comfortable and durable seat has adjustable fore/aftposition, bottom cushion height, suspension stiffness andflip-up arm rests.

Isolated operator’s station. The isolated operator’s stationwith heavy-duty rubber mounts reduce machine vibrationtransmitted to the operator.

Floor mat. Rubber floor mat helps further isolate theoperator from machine vibration and noise.

Blade control. It is controlled by operator’s foot toprovide simple, one-handed operation of machine propel,steering and blade functions simultaneously.

Dual propel pumps. The dual propel pumps provide plenty of power and tractive effort for effective blade use without drum spin.

Blade. No special permits for transporting with a bladewidth of 2.10 m. Blade cutting depth is 76 mm.

Padfoot Shell KitOptional padfoot shell kit expands the application range of the CS433E to work in eithercohesive or semi-cohesive material.

Shell kit. Two-piece shell kit features a total of 84 padswith a pad height of 90 mm. Each half of the shell kitweights 453 kg and includes a special bumper for a quickconversion.

One-Piece Hood DesignThe new one-piece fiberglass hood design provides excellent service access and exceptionaloperator visibility.

Visibility. The visibility to the drum and tire edges isexceptional. The sloped hood allows the operator to seeobstacles measuring 1 meter high located 1 meter to therear of the machine. Excellent visibility in all directionsincreases productivity for working near obstructions, in trenches, or maneuvering around the job site.

One-piece hood. One-piece fiberglass hood tilts forwardto provide unrestricted access to the engine and all servicepoints.

Gas charged struts. The gas charged struts easily liftshood to provide exceptional access to the engine andcooling system.

Sound levels. Low sound levels for the operator and theground crew due to the one-piece hood design and revisedcooling air flow through the rear mounted radiator.

Articulation and Oscillation HitchThe hitch area, proven reliable on 500D-Series Soil Compactors, offers improved durability,reliability and simplified service.

Hitch area. It is structurally reinforced and joined by twohardened steel pins for improved service life.

Articulation pin. Vertical articulation pin permits 37 degrees steering in either direction.

Oscillation pin. Horizontal oscillation pin allows up to 15 degrees drum oscillation.

Roller bearings. Sealed-for-life tapered roller bearingsnever need greasing or maintenance.

Articulation lock. It prevents the inadvertent articulationof machine during shipping or while performing serviceon the machine.

Transmission

Two variable displacement pistonpumps supply pressurized flow to twodual displacement piston motors. Onepump and motor drives the drum propelsystem while the other pump and motordrives the rear wheels.

The two-pump system ensures equalflow to the drive motors regardless ofthe operating conditions. In case thedrum or wheels lose traction, the othermotor can still build additional pressureto provide added torque.

The drive motors have two swashplatepositions allowing operation at eithermaximum torque for compaction andgradeability or maximum speed formoving around the job site. A rockerswitch at the operator’s console triggersan electric over hydraulic control tochange speed ranges.

Speed changes can be made withoutstopping. A single propel lever locatedon the control console provides smoothhydrostatic control of the machine’sinfinitely variable speeds in bothforward and reverse.

Roll Over Protective Structure/FallingObject Protective Structure(ROPS/FOPS) canopy is a two-poststructure that bolts directly onto flangeswelded to the operator platform.Includes two front-facing and two rear-facing working lights, handrails and arear view mirror. The structure meetsISO 3449-1992 and ISO 3471-1994.

ROPS/FOPS Cab includes a clothsuspension seat, one access door, tintedsafety glass windows, electric wipersfront and rear, heater/defroster, twovertically sliding side windows forventilation, two exterior rear viewmirrors, two front-facing and two rear-facing working lights, interior domelight, coat hook. Two-Piece Padfoot Shell Kit bolts ontothe smooth drum of CS433E. Features90 mm high pads. Each shell halfweights 453 kg and includes a specialbumper for a quick conversion.

Padfoot Drum Scraper System for theCP433E mounted on the rear of thedrum prevents build up of materialbetween the pads. The scraper teeth arebolt-on, individually adjustable and fieldreplaceable.

Polyurethane Drum Scrapers for the CS433E provide a front and rear scraperfor continuous contact with the drumsurface and replaces the standard steelfront scraper.

Spare Tire with Rim is available for boththe flotation tread and the traction tread.

Recording Module provides a visualgauge for reading worktime, machinespeed, distance covered and amplitudeselection.

Traction Tires improve traction whenCS433E is equipped with Padfoot ShellKit or with Leveling Blade.

Compaction Indicator CI 010 includesLED panel indicating compaction levelwith integrated LCD screen displayingtravel speed and compaction metervalue. Also Includes hand-held printer.

Compactiometer ALFA 022R includescompaction meter value dial, frequencymeter dial and resonance meter valuedial.
