Bearing and Gear AnalysisDetecting imbalance or misalign-ment is easy with any instrument,but the CSI 2130 makes child’splay out of detecting developingfaults on bearings and gears aswell. Emerson's

patented PeakVue® processingapplies digital technology todetect stress waves - the earliestsign of bearing and gear wear. Incomparison, demodulation andother analog technologies typical-ly can not detect such faults untilmuch later – and sometimes notat all.

PeakVue processing not onlyoffers the earliest warning ofdeveloping faults; it also providesan indication of severity.Measurements can be reliablytrended to determine the optimaltiming for maintenance.

With PeakVue, machinery faultsare clearly visible in the wave-form, opening up important newoptions for fault detection anddiagnosis.

Add Prediction to OnlineMonitoringMany online monitoring systemsinstalled in plants today serve asnothing more than a shutdownswitch in case a catastrophic con-dition develops. By feeding thesignals from these systems intothe CSI 2130, it is possible to add predictive capabilities by identify-ing faults before a catastropheoccurs. Orbit plots can be gener-ated to identify problems such asmisalignment and shaft rubs.Trending data also provides valu-able insight into developingcracks and other types of struc-tural faults.

Monitoring Trouble SpotsThe CSI 2130 also serves as atemporary on-line monitor. It canautomatically acquire and storedata such as the overall vibration,fault frequencies associated withspecific fault types, or even thecomplete spectrum over anextended period of time. With linepower, it is possible to monitormachine health for longer spansup to a month (e.g. to capture thebreak-in period for new equip-ment or to ensure that a machinewith a known fault can make it tothe next outage).

Filtered orbits can be displayed and transferred back to the software.Orbits provide information about the health of sleeve bearing machines.

Full Spectrum of Measurement Another unique feature of the CSI 2130 is its exceptional frequency range. Using Emerson's patented Slow Speed Technology (SST), the analyzer can accurately measure signals on critical low speed equipment that would be out of range for other vibration analyzers. On the other end of the spectrum, the CSI 2130 also boasts the highest frequency range available. It can measure signals up to 80,000 Hz, which is important for accurate diagnosis of centrifugal compressors and other high speed machinery.

Variable Speed AnalysisVariable speed analysis is essen-tial to any effective machineryhealth program because mostcritical pieces of equipment mustbe operated at varying speeds toaccommodate the changing pro-duction demands. While mostvibration systems do not takevariable speed into account dur-ing data collection, the CSI 2130automatically adapts all of itsdiagnostic tools to variable turn-ing speeds during routine datacollection. This provides an accu-rate evaluation of developingproblems in the field.

Capture Machine ShutdownsFor analysis of transient events,the CSI 2130 is able to collect aseries of 'snapshots' of machinevibration during start-up, coast-down or process changes. Thesespectra can then be viewed indi-vidually or in a Cascade plot.

Correlate Vibration andProcess VariablesUse the dual channel feature ofthe CSI 2130 to correlate machin-ery vibration with process vari-ables. This is accomplished byinputting the process informationas a volt signal into one channel,while monitoring vibration on theother.

Unsurpassed VersatilityThe CSI 2130 incorporates amodular design so that it can beconfigured to specifically addressyour current situation. As yourneeds evolve, it can be easily andaffordably expanded to enhanceyour capabilities while protectingyour initial investment. This versa-tile unit can be purchased as asingle- or dual channel analyzer –with or without route measure-ment capability, as a dedicatedfield balancer, or as a laser align-ment calculator. Put together anycombination of capabilities tomatch your requirements.Additional modules are also avail-able for transient and structuralanalysis.

Advanced Cross-ChannelAnalysisStandard data collection servesas an excellent base for identify-ing developing machinery faults,but often times cross-channelanalysis is required to identify theroot cause of the fault. Expandthe vibration analysis applicationwith the cross channel module todetermine the actual movement ofthe shaft during operation and toidentify structural faults such ascracks and resonances. Whilethe dual-channel CSI 2130 comesstandard with the ability to displayorbits for turbo machinery analy-sis, the optional Advanced Cross-Channel application expandsthese capabilities to includeimpact testing and other types ofcross-channel analysis. As a

further enhancement, theODS/Modal application(Operational Deflection Shapes)makes short work out of structuralanalysis by automatically config-uring the required series of cross-channel tests.

Cross-channel data can also beanalyzed in the VibPro module ofthe AMS Machinery Managerapplication, or exported to spe-cialized ODS/Modal analysis soft-ware.

The Advanced Transient application records the vibration signature from machinestart-up, coast-down or during process disruptions for advanced analysis.

The program offers a basic modefor simple one- or two-plane bal-ancing, and an advanced modefor more complex jobs. Full jobdocumentation can be sent direct-ly to a printer or stored on a PCusing the UltraMgr module ofAMS Machinery Manager.

The Advanced Balancing applica-tion offers two new solutions tothe challenge of field balancing:

Vector Averaging - This techniquesystematically removes back-ground vibration that would other-wise contaminate the calculatedsolution.

Balancing Watchdog - this patent-ed technology automaticallychecks the vibration data on themachine while the user performsthe balance job. The Watchdog isable to identify and alert the userto severe structural faults (such as looseness or resonance) thatwould otherwise make the job dif-ficult or impossible to complete.The user can take correctiveaction to remove the structuralfault, balance the rotor, and leavethe machine in reliable operatingcondition.

Transient AnalysisThe Advanced Transient Analysis application expands the power of any single or dual channel ana-lyzer to record the raw vibration signal over a prolonged period of time for post-processing and analysis. This is essential for diagnostics of turbomachinery, start-up and coast-down, or machines with short, repetitive duty cycles. This data can be examined directly on the CSI 2130 Analyzer or with the VibPro module in AMS Machinery Manager.

Field BalancingThe Advanced Balancing applica-tion transforms the CSI 2130 intoa powerful field balancer. Thisapplication combines advancedtechnology with simple, straight-forward operation for a fast, effec-tive solution to your balancingproblems. The graphical userinterface automatically guides theuser through the balance check-list so that only minimal training isrequired for effective operation.

Motor Current AnalysisTogether with the MotorViewmodule in AMS MachineryManager, the CSI 2130 performsnon-intrusive analysis of the rotorand stator condition in inductionmotors. This can be accom-plished with a standard currentclamp or Emerson’s patented fluxmonitoring.

Industrial RatingsDesigned for use in industrialenvironments, the CSI 2130 hasreceived an IP 65 rating certifyingthat it is dust- and splashwatertight. It is also certified to complywith international safety standardsin the United States, Canada andEurope for hazardous areas.

Accessory OptionsSpeed DetectionAccurate detection of the shaftturning speed is critical to effec-tive machinery health analysis.The CSI 430 Laser Speed Sensorprovides the industry-leadingmethod to determine shaft speedwithout requiring reflective tape orany specific markings on themachine.

Triaxial AccelerometerThe Model A0643TX is a revolu-tionary new triaxial sensor. UsingEmerson's patented design, thissensor can be magnet mountedand still provide high quality read-ings in all three directions.

Proximity Probe ConnectionsTo measure orbits on a protectionsystem, use BNC-type cables andthe dual volt adapter. The phasereference can be input using thegeneric tach cable.

Structural AnalysisFor advanced structural analysis,use a modally-tuned hammer.

Laser AlignmentThe Advanced Laser Alignmentapplication offers a graphically-driven user interface and wirelessoperation to quickly and easilycomplete alignment jobs.Emerson's advanced laser sys-tem uses built-in dual inclinome-ters to automatically determinethe shaft position, so the usersimply rotates the shaft and thesolution is plotted on the screen.The live move option thenupdates the change in alignmentcondition during the machinemove.
