Venue The Conference shall be hosted by the Institute for Nuclear Research at their premises in Mioveni, town located at about 25 km away from Pitesti, on the national road Pitesti – Brasov. The closest airport is Henri Coanda – Otopeni, Bucharest (115 km to Pitesti, freeway access). From Bucharest, Pitesti can be reached by car – on freeway A1, or by train – every 2 hours from Bucharest North Railway Station (Gara de Nord), or by bus – almost every 30 min. from Militari Bus Station. The transport from Pitesti to Mioveni shall be provided by the Institute for Nuclear Research at 8:15 a.m. every morning, from Muntenia Hotel.

Payments The participation fee is 150 EUR and includes registration, conference papers, technical visit, lunch and the conference dinner. The fee for the accompanying persons is 50 EUR and covers the social events. Cutbacks could be considered for students. Paper format: The full paper should not exceed 8 pages. The text shall be written in one column, in Times New Roman 11pt. font, single space. The title, written in capitals, 14pt. bold, centered, shall be followed at double space by the authors names and affiliations. Tables, diagrams and figures should be inserted in the text. The page margins shall be 2.5 cm for the top, bottom, right and left sides. The template is available on the conference site, www.nuclear.ro.

Presentations: The invited lecturers have 25 minutes for presentation and 5 minutes for discussions during plenary sessions. Within parallel sessions, the authors have 15 minutes for the oral presentation and 5 minutes for discussions. Video projection system shall be available. The poster contributions shall be presented on an A0 format or equivalent.

Publication: All papers will be included in the IAEA’s INIS DATABASE. The most original and valuable papers will be proposed to be published in Journal of Nuclear Research and Development, a scientific publication on the current developments in nuclear energy.

Award terms (Conditions): The Scientific Committee will award the best three papers presented by young researchers. Participants younger than 35 years must be first authors of the papers presented either in the oral or poster sessions. Original contributions must address priority aspects of the nuclear energy. The evaluation criteria will consider the creativity, degree of novelty and presentation.

Objectives Organized in the hearth of the Romanian nuclear energy research, Nuclear 2013 intends to consolidate collaboration with academia, industry, operators and authorities in order to respond together to the major expectations at national, European and international level including its contribution to the low carbon energy, security of supply and competitiveness. This edition will particularly explore the research directions to be developed by Euratom programme under H 2020 and will analyze to what extent are they addressing the nuclear fission needs. Along 3 days of plenary, topical and poster sessions, representatives of DG Research, Europeans Platforms, national authorities, research centers, universities, nuclear industry, regulators and operators will present the strategies framing nuclear research and energy, will highlight the major achievements in the nuclear field, and will identify the actions needed to reach in the most efficient way the goals imposed by the actual challenges.
