Cultivating Difference Makers: Influencing a Cultural Shift in Our Communities Bystanders are individuals who observe potential or obvious unsafe acts, toxic behaviors, and in some instances crimes, and simply choose to do nothing to intervene. In most cases, this occurs on our military bases, at our college campuses, in our high schools, at our place of employment, and in our communities. Understanding our individual responsibility and the impact it can have on communities is necessary for culture change. Done correctly, this will significantly decrease the amount of sexual and domestic violence occurring in our communities. Through enhanced education, understanding, and specialized skills training, this presentation empowers individuals to effectively prevent or interrupt sexual assault, domestic violence, and/or any behaviors that fall on the continuum of harm leading up to those acts. Without intervention, perpetrators believe that the social and cultural climate supports their acts or, at a minimum, will guard them from detection. We can change that mindset if we all are invested and fully engaged. Utilizing an interactive and dynamic model, this presentation combines lecture, exercises, audience participation, and scenario-based discussions. This includes: Education on bystander intervention and its relevance to culture change Discussion on human behavior and existing barriers to intervention Participant self-reflection on how we each individually respond to uncomfortable situations Skills training on practical strategies to intervene safely Upon request, we can also provide additional training in conjunction with our visit. This includes: Survivor Testimonies (Male and Female / Civilian and Military) Continuing Education Units (CEU) for the military advocacy teams (broad range of subjects) Topics upon request (Sexual Harassment and Assault / Child Abuse / Domestic Violence/ Bystander Intervention / Culture Change / Offender Behavior / Understanding Victim Recovery and Resiliency / Bullying / Male Victimization / Community Partnerships and Collaboration) TRANSITIONING FROM TALKING THE TALK - TO WALKING THE WALK! Per availability, our program utilizes ten passionate speakers with varied experience to provide unmatched value!

Cultivating Difference Makers: Influencing a Cultural Shift in Our Communities

Bystanders are individuals who observe potential or obvious unsafe acts, toxic behaviors, and in some

instances crimes, and simply choose to do nothing to intervene. In most cases, this occurs on our

military bases, at our college campuses, in our high schools, at our place of employment, and in our

communities. Understanding our individual responsibility and the impact it can have on communities is

necessary for culture change. Done correctly, this will significantly decrease the amount of sexual and

domestic violence occurring in our communities.

Through enhanced education, understanding, and specialized skills training, this presentation empowers

individuals to effectively prevent or interrupt sexual assault, domestic violence, and/or any behaviors that

fall on the continuum of harm leading up to those acts. Without intervention, perpetrators believe that the

social and cultural climate supports their acts or, at a minimum, will guard them from detection. We can

change that mindset if we all are invested and fully engaged.

Utilizing an interactive and dynamic model, this presentation combines lecture, exercises, audience

participation, and scenario-based discussions. This includes:

• Education on bystander intervention and its relevance to culture change

• Discussion on human behavior and existing barriers to intervention

• Participant self-reflection on how we each individually respond to uncomfortable situations

• Skills training on practical strategies to intervene safely

Upon request, we can also provide additional training in conjunction with our visit. This includes:

• Survivor Testimonies (Male and Female / Civilian and Military)

• Continuing Education Units (CEU) for the military advocacy teams (broad range of subjects)

• Topics upon request (Sexual Harassment and Assault / Child Abuse / Domestic Violence/

Bystander Intervention / Culture Change / Offender Behavior / Understanding Victim Recovery

and Resiliency / Bullying / Male Victimization / Community Partnerships and Collaboration)
