From the Principal… Kiorana, Cook Island Language week Yesterday we celebrated Cook Island Language Week with our assembly. It was wonderful to see how our students embraced the culture and learnt authentically about it. This ties in with our conceptual understanding for this year that - identity is shaped by relationships, connections and the environment. It was fantastic to see so many parents attend our assembly. Teacher only day - This Friday 14 August - school will be closed to students on this day as staff will be involved in Professional Development with Katherine Burkett. Great Times Out of School Care will be running a care programme in the school hall on this day to register contact Trish 0275180077 School Cross Country - next Thursday 20th August starting at 11am - come along and support your children - more details on page 3 Father's Day Breakfast - Friday 4th September. We are pleased to announce that we will be hosting a Father's Day breakfast with the support of our good friends Gagan and Rachael from Ray White Takanini - more details on page 4 Uniform Reminder - there are a number of students wearing incorrect uniform items - from next week we would expect all students to be in correct uniform - including sports uniform for Year 3-8 students. Property update - We are in the beginning phases of planning for our roll growth classes, we have secured a two story 8 classroom build. I am looking forward to the process of consultation with community, staff and students on what this space might look like. We have almost completed the planning phase of the refurbishment of rooms 1-6 and work should begin on these rooms soon. Breakfast club is on in the Art Room every Tuesday and Wednesday morning8:20-8:45am. All Welcome!

Colgate Recycling ProgrammeWe are commencing the Colgate Recycling programme. Collection point is the blue bin outside Room 7. Accepting any oral care brands (not just Colgate), however, they have updated their collection which now does NOT include cardboard packaging. All plastic is fine. Every piece collected gives us points which we can earn towards a donation back to the school.

Students have recently begun training for this years school Cross Country.You are welcome to come along and support your children on the day.Children will assemble on the courts outside Room 10 & 11 from 10.45am. Race courses vary for each year level, all races will start and finish on the school field.Children may go home with their parent following the awards ceremony and will need to sign out at the classroom.

We would also like to hear from you if you have a younger child starting school during 2019.Please let the office know by email [email protected] or stop in the office to notify us. This helps us tremendously in our planning for next year.
