What are the challenges
• Spatial waste distribution
• Waste composition
• Waste characteristic
• Pre-treatment of raw waste before entering into the process

Capacity of waste disposal (tons/day)
Concern on project feasibilityCluster of treatment plant is consideredTechnology selection limit
A good LF in Buriram with 80 TPD Potential to become WtE is only become a cluster receive more waste in place and landfill mining
Waste composition and characteristics
High organic waste lead to high moisture content (40-60%).
Waste separation is to be promoted.
Pretreatment of waste before entering to the process is a key.
Thermal technology include RDF need high heating value.

Opportunities
National agenda
• MSW roadmap
• Old waste (Accumulative waste)
• No more open dumpsite
• Rehabilitate old dump site
• In charge and overseeing MSW management by Provincial Governors
• MSW master plan and action plan
• Waste separation by source
ADEP plan
• Targeting in Renewable energy plan
• Higher adder than other renewables
MSW Adder
Installed Capacity < 1MW = 6.34 Baht/kWhInstalled Capacity =1-3 MW = 5.82 Baht/kWhInstalled Capacity > 3 MW = 5.08 Baht/kWh
Landfill gas = 5.60 Baht/kWh

2021
All accumulated waste are disposal properly (30.5 Mt)
All infectious waste are collected and disposal properly (0.05Mt)
>75 %MSW are disposed properly (19.6 Mt)
HW management collected and disposed properly (2.09 Mt)
>30% HHW are collected and disposed properly (0.17 Mt)
>50% LGOs have systems for waste separation at source
Solid Waste Management Targets
Conclusion
• RE has been promote in Thailand with national plan. Only half of the target was achieved.
• Incentive- FiT, Barrier- Grid connection and storage
• Turning solid waste to energy in Thailand has high potential due to policy support from key ministries include Ministry of Energy and Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
• Selection of technology for WtE should concern on these elements
• Waste composition and characteristic of MSW which are different from developed country (high percentage of food waste and high moisture content ).
• Pretreatment of waste before process
• Quantity of waste at each site/cluster to achieve feasible investment
