Armen Yuri Gasparyan
Introduction
Dr. Armen Yuri Gasparyan holds MD diploma with honors in general medicine (1990-1997). He gothis PhD for studies of heart involvement in inflammatory disorders (2002). In 1998-2003, he was amember of the World Bank Primary Health Care Group, where he developed evidence-basedguidelines for general practitioners. In 2003 - 2008 - trainer of English-speaking medical students. Hewas awarded a title of Associate Professor of Medicine in 2006. In 2002 and 2008, he passedinternships in internal medicine at the Barmherzige Bruder General Hospital, Medical University ofGraz, Austria. He was recognized as a Fellow of European Society of Cardiology in 2010 (FESC)and a Member of the Academy of Medical Sciences of B&H (2011). Dr Gasparyan tookresearch posts at the Haemostasis,Thrombosis and Vascular Biology Unit, University Department ofMedicine, City Hospital NHS Trust, Birmingham, UK (2007-2008) and at the Departments ofRheumatology and Research & Development, Teaching Trust of The University of Birmingham,UK (from 2008 to now). In 2015, he was appointed member of Scopus Content Selection &Advisory Board. He currently deliveres lectures in rheumatology and science editing, draftsrecommendations on editing, and works on vascular issues in inflammation (UK). He also consultsseveral medical journals on issues of research integrity. Activities as a medical educator,researcher, and reviewer (The Lancet, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, ThrombosisResearch, Atherosclerosis, Rheumatology [Oxford], Seminars in Arthritis & Rheumatism, ClinicalRheumatology, Current Pharmaceutical Design), Member of Editorial Boards (Thrombosis Research,Vascular Health and Risk Management, Current Vascular Pharmacology, Acta Informatica Medica, JRes Med Sci) were highly evaluated, which yielded membership of the World Association of MedicalEditors (since 2008) and the European Association of Science Editors (since 2009; Council Member2011-2015). He is the current co-Editor-in-Chief of Acta Informatica Medica, Associate Editor ofRheumatology International (Springer), Editing, Writing & Publishing and Rheumatology SectionsEditor at J Korean Medical Science. He published more than 100 papers, 3 textbooks on internalmedicine, a chapter in the Handbook for Science Editors; organized a series of seminars onrheumatology and multidisciplinary science communication in the UK, Greece, Turkey, Spain, Russiaand Iran.
