Young professional in high-end studio work. Degree education allowed Three years’ experience in a fully equipped £500,000 studio in which an excellent familiarity with flash equipment was gained alongside a honed ability to balance light (outside or inside a studio environment). Understands audience, understands mood boards and shoot planning and has excellent experience in sales and studio management after running Princess Cruises onboard studio ‘The Platinum Studio by Joe Craig’. It was with this studio that I learned to run my own business and was my most defining role to date [see below for more information]. Princess cruises has now added to my experiences by adding, Fuji Mini-Lab printing machines. I am an experienced

sea farer: Five 6-month, 7 Day a week, 91 hours per week contracts (None EU Registered ship) all with Princess Cruises. This has let me accumulate a total of 30 months at sea, as a result I am someone who is very** used to (and very comfortable) travelling long distance and to and from different countries all over the world thus I have excellent cultural awareness after working with 74 nationalities at any one time. Princess cruises also provided in-house training for basic fire-fighting & fire safety, crowd control, environmental protection, social media privacy, data protection, body language, as well as in depth sales training to name a few.

Please Visit www.timtovey.com to see the full range of my work from the past 10 years.

Personality:

I am an emotionally intelligent and empathic people person who enjoys observing the psychology of expression – I love to understand people’s stories, I want to understand what makes them who they are and tell that story within my photography. It’s why I am passtionate portraiture and creating the best portraits that express that person’s idiosyncratic nature, the ‘punctum’ of what makes them, them. I am a creative thinker, adept with the ability to comprehend and deconstruct briefs in a pressured environment to a professional standard within a limited time frame. I am focused on quality and obtaining results. I am tenacious yet friendly and if cruise ships have taught me anything it is how to handle stress. I am motivated by a position that challenges me to be my best and hone my practise. Before working-in the fast-paced customer facing, high-demand five-star excellence environment, I had over three years’ experience in customer orientated positions such as shop assistants and tourist information centre’s (full experience in such matters are listed on the last page of this document). It should be noted I have been a telesales marketer also. My personal interests other than photography include guitar, singing, poetry, and adventure motorcycling. I recently completed a 8500 (not a typo) drive to central Russia via Latvia & Turkey. I have lots of experience also of performing on stage which has made me very comfortable with the public and public speaking. I have also been rigorously trained in crowd control.

Experience: One year as ‘Master Photographer’ (Cut short due to Covid) with Platinum Studio by Joe Criag (Hosted by Princess Cruises on board their ships). This

was a full-time position that granted me a double in salary as well as a double in responsibilities. As staff photographer I was expected to achieve a target on average of $3000(USD) a cruise. As Platinum Studio artist I was expected to achieve an average revenue of

$11,000(USD) to $25,000(USD) in a cruise. Average cruise was 7 days. My highest earning cruise came to $17,000 at 120% over target. On my last 6-month tour of Duty, the platinum studio asked me to make a total of $235,000(USD) – I achieved a +19.6% over target with a total of $275,000 in those 6 months. (Please refer to my Ships Appraisal below written by my manager as a reference to my sales abilities). My role as you can imagine heavily relied on sales, however, these sales were easy when I shot the photographs to our exceptional standard. We marketed the Platinum studio as a “Bespoke and Luxury, Fine-Art Photography experience that captures the essence of the subject in a unique way”. This was no faint-hearted role as I was especially trained by Joe Craig (an internationally renowned photographer) in his studio in Dexter, Missouri, USA. I was the Photographer, editor, PR Manager and Studio Manager all rolled into one. On average I had 20-30 clients a cruise. My biggest sale from a single client was over $7000. Under me was a team of upto 11 Photographers that I slowly learned to manage and make my bookings for me (alongside my own). I was responsible in training them in all things Platinum Studio and motivating them to keep booking for the studio. Average clients were couples & families celebrating something significant and we specialized in classical head-shot portraiture with a twist (Literally, usually). See here Joe’s Craigs website: http://www.joecraig.com/. This is the standard of work that I was required to create.

Princess Cruises - Sea fearing “Staff Photographer”. I have received two promotions within the position, rising from “level 1 photographer” to level 3 (Of 5) – A further promotion to Platinum Studio by Joe craig halted this numeric rise: My duties as a ships

I also had leadership responsibilities as I was expected to train the staff under me and set them a good example. I was classed as a Junior supervisor. (November 2016-September 2018)

Multiple (freelance) contracts with Lumiere’s Drama Company working with children to promote the company as well as photographing events such as to award ceremonies. (http://www.lumieresactsingdanceacademy.co.uk/, most of the black and white work was shot by me) (2014)

Serving customers on the old-style till. Lifting heavy boxes in and out of storage that contained leaflets and reading materials. Public speaking necessary when it fell on me to be an usher & tour guide for the ‘The Courtroom Experience’ which involved memorising facts of the 1844 charlotte Dymond trial, relying them comprehensively and in an interesting manner to the public in what totals as a 30 minuet long introduction to a film and animatronic play, then taking customers down into cells and talking about them, and those who might have been held there. Largest group I ‘lectured’ too was a class of 35 German students. hand. During my time at the Information Centre I was taught confidentiality and privacy regulations, i.e. how to responsibly and legally accept credit card payments from customers as well as cheques. I was taught to open up in the morning which included maintaining a coffee machine, opening a safe and putting money in a till, I also was taught to close up which included being taught to cash-up at the end of the day. I was also sent on courses that dealt with equal rights and managing people from other countries, and of poor mental health – these courses taught me how to better interface with people with such handicaps, raising awareness and where appropriate, creating opportunity.
