Customer Service is not about just being polite.
Customer Service is about helping the customer over come the problem that brought them to you in the first place.
This means that the CSR may even have to explain to the customer that their product is not exactly what they are looking for.
Yes, there may be a lost sale but there will be respect earned from the customer to seek the CSR's advice next time.
Target
CSRs are to be upfront and honest with customers about their products. This does not only build sales within the company they work for but also build friends instead of just another repeat customer.
