the Cutting Edge sale group has the largest sale offering to date,

with an excellent selection of bulls in everyone’s price range. We

welcome a new member to the Cutting Edge Group this year Chad

There is a great deal of optimism in the beef industry. Prices on all

classes of cattle from feeders to cull bulls have been strong. Media

reports indicate a strong bred heifer market in the fall.

It is a pleasure to be involved with the breeders who put on the Cutting Edge Angus and Simmental Bull Sale.

Peter and Vicki Bradford, Bar 17 Little Valley Angus, Vicki’s mother Glenda Wacher, Waching Angus; Lee & Tina Robson, Lockhart Valley Simmentals; and Mark and Kathy Matejka, Matejka Farms have for several years presented a quality offering and this the Eighth Annual sale, promises to be the best group of young herd sires they have presented to date. All five of these dedicated cattle breeders puts the emphasis on quality not quantity.

It was a real pleasure this summer to view the young bulls still on their dams in the Bradford, Wacher herd to see the good milking cows and their growthy, outstanding bull calves was a sight.

At Lee and Tina’s we were blown away with 900 to 1000 lb. calves nursing outstanding Simmental cows. This is a most productive herd with moderate birth weights and tremendous performance.

Mark and Kathy Matejka come with a great seed stock background and they have developed a fine Angus herd and produce top herd sire candidates.

Whether you are looking for performance, calving ease, maternal strength, these correct well-developed young herd bulls will add to any program. There is no substitute for quality and you will be able to see an abundance of it on March 2nd. Each of these programs is a tribute to the breed they represent; you can buy with confidence from these dedicated breeders.

Hello everyone and welcome to the 8th Annual Cutting Edge

Bull Sale. Before I go on we would like to welcome Chad and

Michelle Beagle to the Cutting Edge Sale group, he’s a very

enthusiastic new breeder to the Simmental breed. I think you will find

Chad’s offering to be of high quality. Thank you to all the bidders and

buyers at our last sale. Wow! Your continued support is very much

appreciated. This year we have a few more bulls on offer. A large

number of the bulls are from PRL 42W. We used 42W as a clean-up

in the cow pen and he really did a good job for us. He calves like a

dream and his sons have moderate birthweights and should present

no calving problems. The balance of bulls are from Blue, Bellringer,

LHVS 60X (Sunney Valley Sargeant son), LBR Crocket, Bar 5

Hemisphere, CRF 182X, Club King and Harvie Wallbanger. Lee and

I really like to try and breed our red and blacks with a blaze on their

faces as it seems that blaze faced calves fetch a premium at the

auction mart. Bulls are fed a ration that consists of silage, cut hay, 12

lbs of bull pellets and 3 lbs of barley. We don’t push our bulls to hard,

as we want them to go out and work for their new owners and not be

sleeping under a tree somewhere. As always we would like to invite

you to come and look at the bulls for yourselves, (their mothers are

close at hand to look at too) or just come in and have a coffee and

a visit. We look forward to seeing you either before the sale or on

Saturday, March 2nd, 2013. We have a video of the bulls available

on CD, if you would like one please phone and we will be happy to

Welcome to the 8th Annual Cutting Edge Bull Sale.

We want to thank everyone for the tremendous

sale last year. Thanks to all who attended and to

our buyers. We sincerely appreciate your business.

The cow herd is our finest asset. Through the use of

AI bulls we have implemented some of the greatest

production and calving ease genetics available, all the

while maintaining highly sought after maternal traits, and

of course conformation. Cows that are easy to maintain,

raise a good calf that weighs up in the fall, the type that

pay the bills . . .

We are strictly beef producers, no off farm income.

No oil revenue. Our cows make our payments.

We’re not trying to reinvent the wheel, just trying to add more spokes. We have a

diversified pen on offer this year. 40% of the pen are calving ease bulls. You will notice

we have six coming two year olds in this years sale. From the April - May herd. They are

an impressive group, they are NOT leftovers. Again we have a Simmental - Angus bull

this year, he is registered. This past December we bought our first Red Angus cows from

Kim & Brian Geis at their awesome dispersal sale. Look for Red’s in the future from us.

We have come full circle here. Will & Wyatt are in the same 4-H Club that I started out

with a purebred Angus heifer in. The Boys are excited about being first year members.

Will is a Junior with a steer and a Rito 9969 heifer. Wyatt is a “Cleaver Kid” with a Rosin

6W heifer. Most of you are aquainted with cleaver and its association with a nasty canola

weed. Wyatt’s not impressed with the 4 -H choice of name!

Another year has past and as we reflect on the cattle industry, one thing remains constant, good calves

bring the premiums. We have a set of bulls in the 2013 offering that will help ensure you get your share of

the profit from the cattle industry. We research and select the top genetics that will continually improve our

cowherd, which in turn gives us the opportunity to offer you some of the best Angus genetics available.

Our cows have worked harder this winter with more snow and colder fall weather, is a testament to their foraging

ability. Although forages were plentiful, grain crops in our area were less than perfect. However, the feeding

program has remained the same. The home raised and rolled oat based ration and good free choice hay, has

allowed our bulls to perform, grow and mature at reasonable rates with their future in mind.

Many have also expressed a keen interest in our Black Angus bull division, and we are excited to offer a select

few in this years offering. Our black bulls are comparable to our red bulls in genetics and performance. Our

Cutting Edge bulls are selected from over 40 bulls retained from a 200 head cow herd base. These bulls are pail

fed, leading them to be docile, while maintaining their soundness and activity in a large group.

As this sale takes place when most of the bulls are just over 12 months old, they will return to the farm after the

sale and will be semen tested when they have matured more and the weather has warmed up. Delivery to your

farm will follow in April.
