    A . ISPAT INDUSTRIES LIMITED( presently known as JSW ISPAT STEEL LTD)

    Brief introduction :Ispat Industries is one of India's leading industrial houses with interest in steel

    and mining and investments lined up in power and infrastructure. Set up in1984 as a downstream processing facility for flat steel ,Ispat has grown inblistering pace and today ranks amongst India's top five private sector

    integrated steel producers in terms of volume and revenues.It set up the singlelargest mega module DRI plant in 1994 and combining two unique steel makingprocess,the CONARC and CSP to produce a wide variety of quality flat steelproducts in its Dolvi complex .I joined Ispat in 1995 while the project work for their Blast Furnace unit had justbegun .I was one of the team member who had the responsibility of setting upthe entire material handling system from Jetty discharge points to Stockyardand further unto final Bunkers at Stock house , Sinter Plant and Lime Calcining

    Plant .

    [ II ] PLANT MAINTENANCE-MECHANICAL: ( 2000 TILL DATE )

    Establishment of maintenance systems for Material Handling Plant

    Maintenance :

    Determining the maintenance needs of the plant equipments, formattingstructured maintenance plan, generating the supporting schedules forpreventive and predictive maintenance,

    Setting up a predictive & condition monitoring maintenance system in thedepartment and establishing CMMS ( SAP based )

    Ensuring that all the preventive & checklists schedules are adhered tostrictly.

    Improving on the availability of all equipments/system

    Analyzing the data of delays to reduce the repetitive & major delayseither by suitable modification or by better maintenance practices.Improve mean time between failures ( MTBF) and reduce mean time to

    repair ( MTTR ),

    Design out maintenance Spares planning & control,

    Focusing on the inventory control & ensuring that the right spare is

    available at the right time to reduce down time. Controlling the cost- Exercise control on the cost of consumables &

    reduce the total costs.Take structured initiatives for cost reduction and operational efficiency

    improvement.

    Compliance to the statutory regulations with respect to cranes, pressure

    vessels,Ensuring that safety measures are strictly followed.

    [ I ] COST BENEFIT PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION :Led a team of engineers for implementing following cost saving projects :( 1 ) Coke Drying Project for reduction in Coke moisture percentage through a

    system comprising of Hot air generator , Vibrating type Fluidised bed dryer andGas cleaning system .The project was implemented in 5 months time againstthe normal industry standard of 10-12 months( 2 ) Also implemented a Beneficiation plant for Iron Ore for reduction inAlumina and Silica percentage in ore . The system comprises of Rotary Drum

    scrubber, Classifiers , Thickener, Cyclones ,etc( 3 ) A system modification was implemented to achieve following advantages

    ( a ) raw material received from Jetty could be directly fed to Blast furnacereducing multiple handling ; ( b ) Screen underflow from our DRI plant could bedirecly fed to Sinter plant reducing rehandling ( c ) Material received by roadcould be stacked to a normal height of 9 mtrs through Hydrauliv Truck TiltingUnits

    Presently I am handling a capex project for on-line screening of Ore Fines beingfed to Sinter plant which will improve the productivity .

    using an indigenous technology.
