Chris currently works as a Tooling Engineer for Hyson Metal Forming Solutions. He has continued to stay connected with Mr. Parrott, the instructor for CVCC’s Machine Technology Program, and is actively involved with the program through coordinating fieldtrips for both Summer Camps and Manufacturing Day. Chris is also a member of the Machine Technology Program’s Advisory Board, attends class events, and is instrumental in assisting with student’s gaining internships and early placement job opportunities at Hyson. Chris is an exemplary example of an industry member assisting with the education of future generations, as well as helping CVCC spread the message of the immense value career-technical education has on students. Mr. Ken Zawicki 1998 Graduate from CVCC’s Horticulture Program & Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School

CVCC is so pleased to award Mr. Ken Zawicki with the Distinguished Alumni Award! Ken is the General Manager of Retail Operations at Petitti Garden Centers and is also one of the spokespersons for the Angelo Petitti Gardening Radio Show. He teaches classes at the post-secondary level in Plant Science and Landscape Technology. Ken recently assisted CVCC with the design of the indoor garden boxes that accent the school’s main hallway. Ken has actively stayed involved at CVCC through the upkeep of the garden boxes, and has even shared his ideas regarding CVCC’s Strategic Plan and the future of the institution with Superintendent Mr. Dave Mangas. Ken also continuously recruits from CVCC when he has hiring opportunities. Ken, you are so valued at CVCC, thank you and congratulations!

CVCC Business Spotlight Congratulations 2019 CVCC Spirit of Service Award Recipients! Mr. Aaron Sharpe Nominated by CVCC’s Culinary Arts and Food Services Program Instructor, Ms. Kim Morton

Mr. Aaron Sharpe is a Wine Club Facilitator and Tasting Room Attendant at Cooper’s Hawk Winery and Restaurant. He is also a graduate of CVCC’s Culinary Arts and Food Services Program, and has demonstrated extraordinary dedication to CVCC’s culinary program over the past several years. Aaron has provided hands-on demonstrations and exceptional support and service to CVCC’s culinary students. Aaron has also provided financial support, and has chaperoned many of the program’s field trips, as well as provided classroom training. Aaron also serves as a member on CVCC’s Culinary Arts and Food Services Program’s Advisory Board, and has facilitated service opportunities for students through the American Culinary Federation. Thank you Aaron for your continuous dedication to CVCC!

Ms. Toni Neary is the Director of Education at Haas Factory Outlet. She is a huge supporter of CVCC’s Machine Technology Program. She has been instrumental in executing, planning, and obtaining financial support for the program, as well as the Machine Technology Summer Camp. Toni also takes time to work with CVCC’s students to prepare them for SkillsUSA Regional and State Competitions. She has been instrumental in securing scholarships for students in the Machine Technology program as well. Thank you for all you do for CVCC’s students!

Ms. Melissa Heckman Nominated by CVCC’s Transition-to-Work Instructor, Ms. Patty Kempf

Ms. Melissa Heckman is a Regional Manager for the Winking Lizard. She works with students in CVCC’s Transition-to-Work program to provide them with real-world work experiences. Melissa always goes above-and-beyond to make the students feel like they are part of the Winking Lizard team. CVCC is very grateful for the opportunity Melissa and the Winking Lizard have provided for our special needs students over the years, and their philosophy of caring and giving people a chance. Thank you Melissa!

CVCC staff members celebrated the end of another successful school year at an End of the Year Breakfast. S uperintendent Dave Mangas, Facilities and Operations Director Hal Kendrick, as well as Principal Mike Hall highlighted successes and special moments from the year and encouraged staff to enjoy and recharge over the summer. Mr. Kendrick had the pleasure of announcing CVCC’s 2018/19 Staff Member of the Year, Facilities and Operations Maintenance employee, Mark Pruchnicki. Mark is an exceptional asset to CVCC, and is always going above and beyond to give a helping hand. Congratulations of this very well deserved award, Mark!
