D-8+ Hemp Decorticator Specifications The D-8+ Decorticator system processes green, partially dried, dried & baled or retted raw hemp stalk material. The throughput will average up to two tons per hour with additional automa-tion to further increase the production volume depending on source materials.

D-8+ hemp decorticator design developed by Textile Composite Indus-tries & Austeng Engineering in Aus-tralia has produced a truly world-class solution over previous technology.

Return on capital investment is approximately two years with sufficient crop production.

Modern tractors of 120 hp will have sufficient PTO power to drive the D8+

which requires three pairs of hydraulic connectors. Note: Dry baled stalk decortication does require more power than green stalk decortication.

D-8+ system is designed to put materials straight into the feed conveyor. This provides for a range of options: fresh stalks, round bales or square bales opened & fed to the machine. Main decorticator unit takes lengthwise stalks and separates the fibre which is sent to the fibre output chute on the left. Core hurd is conveyed out the back of the machine. Access to the main D-8 unit for service is from the back of the system. Unit breaks down for shipping by removing the front & rear conveyors.

The D-8+ system is shipped complete with PTO input and hy-draulic motors on the Input Feed Conveyor and Core Hurd Conveyor.

Materials are collected at two points: fiber output chute on the left and core conveyor at back of the machine.

Modern machine technology for processing hemp fiber on-site: green or dried stalk material is separated into fiber and core (hurd) in one pass. Powered by PTO and hydraulic motors, the unit can be operated at any location. Electric motors or diesel power units can replace trac-tor as power source for stationary or factory installations.

Optional baling equipment or Optional bale rippers can assist with material handling and throughput. Adding baling systems to the fiber & core output automates the process further. High volume operations will consider pneumatic handling of core hurd material. (see below).

Safety begins with a thorough understandingof the equipment. Always make sure you andyour operators read the Operator’s Manualbefore using the equipment. Pay close atten-tion to all safety and operating decals and never operate machinery without all shields, protective devices and structures in place.

OPTIONAL AUTOMATED FEED SYSTEMS

Scalable hemp decortication system can be automated for high performance operations.

Several options increase the throughput of the D-8+ decorticator system.Feeding dry, stored raw stalk material to the system using large round bales & bale unwinders/rippers will increase the output w/ additional conveyors.

Packing of (dry) fibers directly into square balers in-creases output and reduces labour.

Core hurd can be baled (dry) or conveyed via vacuum systems to be further processed.

Line extensions to cut & sort fibers, convey them to a fibre opener for further processing can be automated. Fresh green fiber can be put directly through roller wringers to assist the drying process.

Reaper/binder harvesters handle bundles of stalk for faster feeding of longer material. Bale spears for moving of baled material for increased efficiency.Windrowing of 4’ stalk for standard 1 ton round baling is recommended. *Reference Dept of Agriculture Manitoba

Installation of stationary diesel or electric power supply will reduce operational costs vs tractor driven units.
