DOCTOR, BIENVENIDO SOBERANO, 78, of Koloa, Kauai, died Jan. 5, 1993. He was born
in Mayantoc, Tariac, Philippines. He was a pioneer in the development of a professional care
standard in nursing and care homes in Hawaii. He and his late wife, Sofia H., began the first
nursing home on Kauai where they provided quality care for many aged workers who had no
family. He also was a former plantation worker of McBryde Sugar Plantation. He owned an
export business, a papaya farm and a number of rental units, many of which he built himself.
