The Danish Language Village is culturally and architecturally authentic, surrounded by the North Woods on Turtle River Lake near Bemidji, Minn.
Every day is like a new adventure abroad
Participants become "villagers" and live in the language and culture from the moment they wake up to the close of the day.

Why Learn Danish?The Danish language is officially recognized and
protected as a minority language in
Germany and has over 6
million speakers worldwide.
While Danish is spoken
mainly in Denmark, it is
also spoken in parts of the
United States, Canada
and many other countries.
Life at Skovsøen
At Skovsøen, we combine traditional Danish games, sports, songs, woodworking, food and festivities with current trends in technology, biking and outdoor activities. Our goal is to provide an environment in which you find the courage and confidence to explore the Danish language and culture.

Camp Activities Can Include:
Fantastic Danish Food
Danish food has traditionally offered a variety of meat and potato dishes based on their agricultural heritage. Popular food you'll see at Skovsøen include frikadeller (Danish meatballs), smørrebrød (open-face sandwiches), and rødgrød med fløde (traditional Danish fruit soup).
Special ProgramsRock out at the talent aften, work on a
tapestry in the weaving studio or spend
the night at a local state park, telling
stories and singing. Our extensive
biking and camping trip through Itasca
State Park is also an exciting option.
