Dia de los Muertos is Spanish for what literally translates to “Day of the Dead.” It is a sacred, Mexican holiday cel-ebrated through October 31st to November 2nd to pray and remember those who have passed. The festivities include preparing altars and decorating our loved one’s grave stones. The altars and grave stones are decorated with bright flowers, crosses, and are used as a way to make food offerings to the dead. One of the most popular foods to offer to the dead is sugar skull candies. Sugar skulls have inspired many makeup looks and photogra-pher, Anastasia Strate, and I wanted to join in on the fun. We’ll tell you exactly what you need to recreate this haunt-ing, yet, beautiful look. Sugar Skull MakeupFor the makeup I wanted to do something very simple and traditional.
