Shareholder Accounting System (SAS) is the proprietary system of The Reserve that is used to collate and process the sweep files received from clients. The formats in which Sweep files are sent are different for each client, and hence SAS is made capable of reading the data according to the specification of each client. The two types of sweep files that are sent by clients are Non-Dollar Sweep files containing new account setup, address changes, etc. and Dollar Sweep files which contain data related to Purchase and Redemptions of Funds. The processing of the Dollar Sweep files goes through the following three-stage process• Loader that loads the data in the sweep file into a staging area• Validator that validates the data• Poster that posts the transactions in SAS.During the day, the Net Asset Value (NAV) of each fund is computed several times a day hours and further every hour until the funds are closed. Whenever NAV is derived as $ 1, the wires pertaining to Purchases and Redemptions are triggered. In case NAV is not equal to $ 1, an error log gets updated and any pending wire is not triggered until NAV is equal to $ 1.
