Specification:Product:The tape is based on polyvinylchloride (PVC) and/or itscopolymers and has a rubber –based, pressure–sensitive adhesive. The tape shall be 7 mils thick, andbe UL Listed and marked per ULStandard 510 as “Flame Retardant,Cold and Weather Resistant.” Thetape must be applicable attemperatures ranging from 0 °Fthrough 100 °F (–18 °C through38°C) without loss of physicalproperties. The tape shall beclassied for use in both indoor andoutdoor environments. The tapeshall be compatible with syntheticcable insulations, jackets andsplicing compounds. The tape willremain stable and will not telescopemore than 0.1 inches whenmaintained at temperatures below120 °F (50°C).

Engineering/Architectural Specification:Primary electrical insulation(branch wiring in wet or drylocations): All splices for 600 voltwire rated 105 °C (220°F) andbelow shall be insulated with aminimum of two half–lappedlayers of Scotch Super 33+ VinylElectrical Tape. All connectorshaving irregular surfaces shall bepadded with Scotchl ElectricalInsulation Putty or Scotch 130CRubber Splicing Tape prior toinsulating with Scotch Super 33+Vinyl Electrical Tape.

Mechanical protection (outerjacketing): All rubber andthermoplastic insulating highvoltage power cable tape splicesand repairs shall be overwrappedwith at least two half–lappedlayers of Scotch Super 33+ VinylElectrical Tape

InstallationTechniques:The tape shall be applied in half–lapped layers with sucienttension to produce a uniformwind (for most applications thistension will reduce the tape’swidth to approximately 5/8 of itsoriginal width). On pigtailsplices, the tape shall be wrappedbeyond the end of the wires andthen folded back, leaving aprotective cushion to resist cut–through. Wrap tape up–hill, taping from a smaller diametersurface to a larger diametersurface. Apply the tape with notension on the last wrap toprevent agging.

Shelf Life:Scotch Super 33+ Vinyl ElectricalTape complies with the requirementsof UL 510 for storage. Whenmaintained under normal storageconditions the tape will remain stableand has a ve year shelf–life.
