This project was done during my first semester and then continued during my third. The first part of this project was in the Architectural CAD class when I did construction documents. Then in Codes, specs, and estimating, I estimated the cost it would be to build this structure. I used AutoCAD for the drawings and Excel for the spreadsheet of calculations for the Cabin.

For this class, I had to recreate drawings on AutoCAD. This house was given to us but we had to recreate drawings of word documents given. I worked with different layers and line type scales that are part of the National CAD standards in order to produce construction documents. The goal of this class was to improve my AutoCAD skills and gain more knowledge on the creation of construction documents.

In this class, I had to recreate a house designed by Richard Meier with the Autodesk program Revit. I created views and renderings using the program to be able to show the context of what is around the site. The goal of this project was to be able to work on my skills in Revit and create a building that models what the actual building looks like.

For this class, I created working drawings of an existing insurance building. The goal of this project was to develop my understanding of the construction process, improve my drafting while completing a set of working drawings. I worked with the program Revit to create the plans, elevations, details, roof framing plans, etc.

For this project, I was given the task of drawing up plans that were given to us and conduct a heat loss of the residence. Once I conducted a heat loss, I calculated what would be the best way to heat the home. The goal of doing this exercise was to know how to perform such calculations. I used the program AutoCAD to create Construction Documents and Microsoft Word to create a document of the calculations.

For this part of the Richardson residence, I have to calculate the Total water demand and the Total Hot water supply required for the first floor of the residential building. This residential building houses a family of four which would be consisted of two adults and two children. After finding the demand and water supply needed, I had to find the cost of the water to meet the needs of the family. After finding the total hot water demand, I had to correctly size a water heater for the residence. I used the program AutoCAD to produce drawings and then word to create a document of my findings.

This project was for a couple that bought a piece of land on a beach front property. The requirements for this project were to create a beach house that accommodated different living areas and arranged in a pleasing manner. The house includes a dogtrot that I decided to separate the parents from the children to create a more private area for the adults. I also wanted to create a design that would fit into the area of Port St. Joe, Florida. I used the program SketchUp to work with ideas that I had and then transferred that over into Revit in order to create a floor plan. All of the drawings were hand drawn and I based the drawings off of the Revit views.

For this project, we were given the task to redesign the interior of a Historic House. The program was that the house was burnt down except for the front walls and the left side walls. So given that we had to remain in the historic look of the home, we were given the task to design the interior rooms and the other walls not destroyed. During the process of designing this, we realized we needed to look at the clients wishes and try to bring all of the requirements as much as possible. I used the program Revit in order to work with ideas that we had as a team. Using Revit, we were able to create views and plans that we could be able to draw on Crescent board. We also created a model to show a conceptual look of the building for the client to look at.

The Author’s Cottage was a project given that require me to create a home to a couple that wanted a colonial style house that allowed them to have privacy. Some project requirements were to allow the wife to have a writing room separate from other rooms. I had to create a site design that allowed the couple to have nice views of the Chesapeake Bay while giving them privacy. I used Revit to create ideas and move toward presentation drawings. I used 4 crescent boards and created a model to explain my idea for a design was.

This is the early parts of the Site Design class II. This project was given to us to work on our drawing skills and to understand also how to show site elements. I started with understanding how elements work together in order to achieve a smart site.

This project progressed in a couple of steps. First I created a site in just ink. Next I worked the site in with color to contrast different elements. Lastly, I created a model to show the context of the building in the site. The goal of this project to focus on how to show how a site should show off different elements and make sure that the grade sloped away from the residence.

This project was also given in steps. First, I was given a site to give color. Next, I was to arrange given elements such as a pool, gardens, driveway, a house, and a patio on the site in a pleasing manner. The last step was to model the site that I originally designed with the elements while I improved on the locations of some of the elements to improve my design. The goal of this project was to understand how to fit in elements a client wants in a manner that works and functions to the best.

The design requirements for these projects was to arrange given elements that were given to us on a site. We had to plan out how to work with elements of given sizes and adapt them to the size and make the site function. The tools I used to create these drawings were colored pencil and black sharp tip markers. The goal of this project was to gain knowledge of how to work with a site to make it accessible and function well.

This project was a memorial proposed to be built in Allenwood, PA. I had to create a design that resembled an era of the Revolutionary War and honor soldiers that passed away nearby. I wanted to create a site that allowed for people to remember those that passed while also creating symbolism. The site I wanted to create was to resemble the tri-corn hat with the walkways and allow certain areas for people to remember Soldiers. I used the program Sketchup to work with ideas that I then produced on Crescent boards. Along with the boards was a conceptual model to show the memorial.

This goal of this project was to create an Outdoor health complex that had elements that the client wanted and placed on a site in a pleasing manner. The client was a young couple that wanted an outdoor workout center that provided changing rooms, saunas, showers, restrooms, and offices. I wanted to create an area of the site that allowed the flow of public onto the site to things such as a juice bar and to be able to walk by a fountain that was on the site. Each area of the site is designated for certain things such as a pilates area, a lap pool, and a weight area. I used the program SketchUp to come up with ideas and then used Revit to be able to create views. All of the drawings were done by hand with watercolor, colored pencils and markers. Also, a model was create to give the client a visual of how the site would look.

This project was given to our class to redesign the front of an Existing building. The building materials on the site or currently failing so we were given the task to recommend new materials and a new design as well. Part of the design steps taken during this was to solve issues of smokers, and lack of outdoor seating areas. I provided areas that would allow for outdoor study areas and areas where smokers could be designated. I used the program Revit to produce renderings and the site plans and I used the program AutoCAD to do the details of the steps.

The Building Trades Center is an existing building on the campus of Penn College of Technology. I was given the task to redesign a new entrance, which is currently a “back” entrance to the building. Since the existing entrance doesn’t have an air-lock, the entire hallway is poorly heated during the winter. I wanted to create an entrance that would tie into the rest of the buildings on campus and the existing building while bringing a fresh look to the building. Part of the design process was to figure out how to make this stand out and welcome people to the building. I used the program Revit to create all of the details, site plan, and renderings of the building.

This project’s task was to design a portal entrance for the Trade & Transit Centre of Williamsport. I was given the task to design a portal Entrance that would show where the new Building would be while also fitting into the context of Williamsport’s Historic district. During the design process, I wanted to show the progress of the brick loading structures to the new building style of exposed steel columns and beams. I wanted to have it be a dramatic look as the cast concrete stops halfway. As far as building materials go, I wanted to tie into the brick used at Trade & Transit Centre part 1 and used materials that would be used at the new Trade & Transit Centre. For this project, I used the program Revit to create Construction Documents and renderings. I also created two models (small one for site context on a mass model and the larger one for more details. I presented to representative of the City of Williamsport, Architects, contractors and fellow students.
