INTRODUCTION

Clark Geological Consulting was contracted to complete a two hole diamond drill program on the 76 unit Long Lake Project. The property is accessible via an old logging road system that departs west from the Making Ground River Road 10 kilometres south of Longlac Ontario. The diamond drill program was designed to evaluate electromagnetic and magnetic anomalies located by a winter program. The diamond drill core was assayed for gold and returned assays of up to 83 ppb gold over 1.5 metres.

LOCATION AND ACCESS

The Long Lake Project i s located 210 kilometres northeast from Thunder Bay approximately 10 kilometres south of the town of Longlac (Figure:!). The property lies within Abrey Township and the Thunder Bay Mining Division. The centre of the property is at Latitude 49 40'45" and Longitude 86 36'30" and NTS 42E 10NE.

An abandoned logging road provides access to various parts of the property. The road departs from the Making Ground River Road approximately 10 kilometres south of Longlac. Access to the west end of the property is also provided via Long Lake.

The Long Lake Property claims are recorded in good standing in the Thunder Bay Mining Division in the name of L.A.Hogg. The 1216 hectare claim block is presented on the Line Location Map (see map pocket). The claims are:

REGIONAL GEOLOGY

The Long Lake Property is located within the Beardmore-Geraldton greenstone belt. The area of the claims is underlain by the rocks of the Southern Metasedimentary Sub-belt. These east-west trending rocks include mafic volcanic flows with minor narrow mafic to intermediate tuffs intercalated with thick beds of greywacke, conglomerate, siltstone and iron formation (magnetite-hematite- chert). The belt is intruded by mafic to felsic intrusions as dikes and plugs which can cross-cut all rock types. The metamorphic grade is commonly greenschist but locally ranges to amphibolite grade. Structurally the east-west belt exhibits isoclinal folding and drag folding that plunges westward at 30 to 40 degrees.

Gold mineralization and deposits within the Southern Metasedimentary Sub-belt are well documented. The gold mineralization is associated to sulfidization of iron formation, shear hosted quartz veins and quartz veins or disseminated sulf ides within felsic intrusions. The gold mineralization is associated to arsenopyrite, pyrite, pyrrhotite, chalcopyrite and minor tellurides.


PROPERTY GEOLOGY

The Long Lake Property is underlain by east-west metasediments and metavolcanics with beds of magnetite bearing iron formation. The rocks are locally strongly foliated and folding is inferred by interpretation of the airborne geophysical surveys.

Gold mineralization on the property is potentially associated to sulfide replacement of magnetite iron formation, quartz veins within shear zones and felsic intrusions.


PREVIOUS WORK

Previous work on the property is poorly documented prior to the 1980's and seems to be limited to minor trenching and prospecting. In the late 1980's Discovery West completed an airborne survey and limited trenching to evaluate the geophysical results. The trenching of the targets met with limited success due to thick overburden.

Clark Geological Consulting was contracted to complete a geophysical program on the Long Lake Property for Long Lake Gold Ltd. The program included VLF-EM, Magnetics and Max Min. The work was completed between the 15 and 21 of March 1993.

A total of 12 kilometres of surveying was completed on cut lines picketed at 25 meter intervals. The VLF-EM survey was completed using a Geonics EM-l6 at 25 meter stations. The Magnetic survey was completed using a Scintrex Omni IV field and base station with readings taken at 12.5 meter stations. The Max Min survey was completed using an Apex Parametrics Max Min II + utilizing a 150 meter cable with readings of two frequencies (444 and 1777 Hz) at 25 meter stations.


DIAMOND DRILL PROGRAM

Clark Geological Consulting was contracted to diamond drill test two geophysical anomalies located during the winter geophysical program. A total of 380 metres (1266 feet) of BQ core was drilled by Northwest Geophysics of Thunder Bay. The core is all stored in Thunder Bay at the Provincial Core Library. All the sampling of the core was completed by cutting the core and sending the samples to Accurassay Labs of Thunder Bay. A total of 238 samples were assayed for gold, 2 samples for copper and 4 samples for zinc. All assaying was completed using a Fire Assay with an Atomic Absorption finish. The core was logged by Aubrey Eveleigh and Carry Clark. The program was completed from June 18 to July 5, 1993.

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

The diamond drill holes (LL-93-01 -i- LL-93-02) tested magnetic and electromagnetic anomalies located at L2+OOW, 7+40N and L7+OOW, 1+OON respectively (Figure 2). The drill logs and assays are presented in Appendix l and 2.

LL-93-01

Diamond drill hole LL-93-01 was drilled grid north at -45 degrees to intersect an electromagnetic anomaly and magnetic low at L2+OOW, 7+40N (Figure 3). The hole was collared in 4.2 metres of overburden. The hole intersected alternating bands of greywacke and magnetite iron formation with minor sections of quartz feldspar porphyry dikes. Mineralization is dominantly disseminated to massive magnetite, minor barren to weakly sulfide bearing quartz veins and locally 1-2!* disseminated pyrite. A section of amphibole alteration from 165.3 to 166.3 metres may represent the electromagnetic anomaly. Assaying of the altered section for zinc returned up to 56 ppm zinc over 1.5 metres. The assaying of the complete hole failed to reveal any significant gold values.

LL-93-02

Diamond drill hole LL-93-02 was drilled grid south at -45 degrees to intersect an electromagnetic anomaly and magnetic high at L7+OOW, 1+OON (Figure 4). The hole was collared in 9.6 metres of overburden. The hole intersected alternating bands of greywacke and magnetite iron formation. Massive to disseminated magnetite was the dominant mineralization with numerous quartz veining sections with up to 5% pyrite. A section of chlorite-amphibole altered greywacke (15.9 to 56.3 metres) returned assays of up to 83 ppb gold over 1.5 metres. A quartz flooded zone from 56.3 to 58.1 metres with trace chalcopyrite and pyrite assayed up to 43 ppb gold over 1.5 metres. Sampling of an outcrop of sheared, altered and copper stained gabbro just north of the drill site returned assays of up to 196 ppb gold and 720 ppm copper (Figure 5). The magnetic anomaly is explained by the massive bedded magnetite iron formation with interbedded greywacke. The electromagnetic anomaly may be a contact response of the altered foliated greywacke to the massive iron formation.

CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

The diamond drill program failed to intersect economic gold mineralization but did intersect anomalous gold values associated to both alteration and quartz flooding within the greywacke.

All work completed to date should be applied as assessment work to keep the claims in good standing for as long as possible. A limited prospecting program may be warranted to evaluate old trenches found in the winter along the north claim line of TB 1196491. No record of the trenches is known though Discovery West did trench in the general area (trench 23).
