Dear JBA Friends! In November 2019, before Corona turned our lives upside down, David Dawson began his new creative process of creating the first steps of METAMORPHOSIS with our dancers. A new ballet to music by Philip Glass, we hoped to premiere in Antwerp in Spring 2021. As Artistic Patron of Junior Ballet Antwerp, David regarded it his responsibility to further the development of our young artists and to this day, we still cherish great memories of those creative moments. The COVID pandemic has unfortunately decided otherwise about that premiere. Due to the usual limitations with regard to a “live experience”, METAMORPHOSIS premiered “online” a few days ago. It was performed by the beautiful dancers of Dutch National Ballet, where Dawson is Artistic Associate since 2015. It is with great pride that Junior Ballet Antwerp will continue in the role of his creative process and we hope to share this glorious work in a live performance in 2022. Meanwhile, David has given us permission to film Part 2; the “Adagio” of the 5-part ballet. We are therefore deeply honored to have permission to transform this wonderful choreography with our dancers into an artistic short film that can be shown to a large audience and also presented at various international film festivals. Our young dancers miss the stage, spotlights, applause and above all… an audience… you! Exhibiting the film internationally offers them the opportunity to be noticed abroad which could of course be a springboard to an international career. The realization of this project will also be a challenge for JBA and an important next step in its ever growing artistic policy. We don’t have to tell you that art is unfortunately not free of cost and that the creation of a ballet always involves an enormous amount of money. Making such a short film also requires a big budget. A budget that we have largely organized ourselves, however, we are still too short in funds to make the project a success. That is why we are calling on your support and your generosity. We know that you have supported us in the past with a warm heart… if you would like to do so in these difficult times as well, and would like to contribute an (extra) bit, we would be extremely grateful to you. A deposit can be made to the JBA account number BE28 7360 6091 1620 with the mention METAMORPHOSIS. We thank you in advance for your support, big or small – any amount is one step closer to help make this project a success for JBA. An offer of hope for a bright future! From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU! JBA © Alain Honorez

Dear JBA Friends!

In November 2019, before Corona turned our lives upside down, David Dawson began his new creative process of creating the first steps of METAMORPHOSIS with our dancers.A new ballet to music by Philip Glass, we hoped to premiere in Antwerp in Spring 2021.
