CuttingFromthestockingfabric,cut: One and one reversed stocking Note:Ifyou'reusingadirectionalprint, becertainthatthemotifsare right-side-upbeforecutting.

Fromthecoordinatingfabric,cut: Oneandonereversedheel One and one reversed toe One 81/2" x 161/2"rectangleforthecuff One 2" x 81/2"rectangleforthehangingloop

Fromtheliningfabric,cut: One and one reversed stocking

AssemblyPlaceonebattingorfleecepieceonaflat

worksurface.Layeronestocking,rightside up,ontopofthebatting.Withrightsidesup,andmatchingrawedges,positiononeheelandonetoeontopofthestocking.

Useawidesatinstitchandcoordinatingthreadtojointheheelandtoepiecesto thestocking.Repeatwiththereversedstocking,heelandtoepiecestomake thestockingback.

Usingaquiltingmethodanddesignofyourchoice,securethestocking andbattingtogether.Forthesampleshownhere,aloose,loopdesignwas free-motionmachinequiltedovertheentire stocking.Trimtheexcessbattingawayfrom theouteredgesofeachstockingpiece.

Withrightsidestogetherandaligningouter edges,pinthetwostockingpiecestogether. Backstitchingatthestartandstop,sewthe stockingtogetheralongtheouteredges, leavingthetopedgeunstitched.Clipthe curvesasneeded,andturnthestockingright sideout.Useapointturnertosmooththe curvedtoe.Presstheturnededges.

Withrightsidestogetherandaligningouter edges,pintheliningpiecestogether. Backstitchingatthestartandstop,sewthe liningtogetheralongtheouteredges,leaving thetopedgeunstitched.Donotturnthe liningrightsideout.

Pin, fuse, or use a glue stick or basting spray to temporarily baste the stocking, heel and toe pieces in place.

Use the pointed end of a knitting needle to gently smooth out the curved seam in the elf toe!

Withwrongsidestogether,foldthecuffinhalflengthwise,forminga 41/4" x 161/2"rectangle.Press.Foldthecuffinhalfwidthwise,forminga 41/4" x 81/4"rectangle.Sewtheshortrawedgestogether,asshown.Turn thecuffsothatthesewnseamisinside.Theseamwillnotshowoncethe cuffisattachedtothestockingandpulleddowninplace.

Withwrongsidestogether,foldthehangingloopinhalflengthwise.Pressthefold,andopenthepressedstrip.Foldthetwolongedgestothecenterfold,andpressagain,forminga1/2" x 81/2"strip.Sewthroughthecenter ofthestriptosecurethefoldededgesinplace.

Withwrongsidestogether,and aligningseamsandtopedges,tuckthe lininginsidetheouterstocking.Pinthe lininginplacealongthetopedgeofthe stocking.

Foldthehangingloopinhalflength- wise.Placetheloopinsidethestocking, matchingtherawloopendswiththe stockingsideseam.Theloopwillbe againsttherightsideofthelining. Pintheloopinplace.

Placethecuffinsidethestocking, matchingthecuffseamwiththe stockingsideseam,andaligning thecuffrawedgeswiththetopraw edgesofthestockingandlining. Pinthecuffinplace.

Sewaroundthetopedgeofthe stocking,1/4"fromtherawedge, tojointhestocking,liningandcuff together,makingsuretocatch theloopintheseam.Backstitch withintheseamallowanceovertheloopendstosecure.

Pullthecuffandlooptotheoutsideofthestocking.Presstheupperstockingedge.Handsewthejinglebelltothetipoftheelftoetofinish.
