December 21 - 27
May the Infant Jesus, born on Christmas Day, bring peace into your souls and abundant blessings into your homes. We extend this Christmas wish to you together with our grateful thanks for your kind cooperation, goodwill, and generosity during the past year.
This has been a year unlike any other, one that has challenged us all in ways we could have scarcely imagined. As a parish family, we have faced the unthinkable loss and grief that this pandemic has brought, along with a ceaseless uncertainty that has turned all of our lives upside down. Throughout the shutdowns, quarantines and the restrictions that seem to change on a daily basis, we have nonetheless remained a family, even when separated, and our faith as a parish family and our commitment to each other will carry us through this.
Last spring, when Masses were halted by pandemic restrictions, our parish income also came to an abrupt halt. We know that many people suddenly found themselves in an equally precarious financial situation and we are deeply thankful that others who were able did what they could to help keep our parish afloat.
We are blessed to have so many people in our parish who respond when they see a need and ask what they can do to help. We are indebted to those who have been serving as safety team members since we reopened in June. They are there for us every weekend and their commitment has enabled us to continue celebrating Mass together.
This year’s Giving Tree project was also greatly affected by pandemic restrictions. Despite that, our parishioners generously responded to our Pajama Drive for the Richmond Home and sent in gift cards and donations in lieu of going shopping for specific gifts as they normally do. On Christmas morning, please remember that someone is opening a gift, perhaps their one gift this year, because you cared enough to make sure they had one. That is Christmas Spirit at its finest.
Let’s continue this spirit in the year to come and ask the Divine Infant to bring peace and happiness into our hearts and homes and blessings upon our parish.
May God bless you and your loved ones abundantly during this holy season and grant you good health and happiness during the New Year.

PANDEMIC RESPONSE New Procedures for
ATTENDING MASS
Celebration of Public Mass is now allowed, but under procedures that focus the highest priority on your health and safety. Please remember that the Sunday Obligation has been suspended during the pandemic so you are not required to attend in person. You may watch Mass on television or online and if you are in a high risk group or unable to comply with the new procedures, you should not attend in person.
All church doors remain accessible as exits, but only one door will be used to enter the building. A safety team member will be doing a headcount as we are limited in how many people we can admit to each Mass. Once inside, a distance of six feet or more must be maintained between groups and individuals who are not from the same household - this applies in the pews, when coming up for Holy Communion and when leaving after Mass. Individual seating is limited to every other pew with one person at either end (pews are marked with tape to indicate available seats). Members of the same household may sit together in their own pew. If two members of a household sit together at one end of the pew - no one from outside their household may sit at the other end of the same pew. Once seated, do not change seats. Thank you for observing the new signs & markings in the church, and cooperating with safety team members who will be helping to ensure social distancing.
Everyone attending Mass must wear a mask that covers the nose and mouth while inside the Church. Please consider your ability to wear a mask for the length of time required before coming to Mass. Masks may not be lowered or loosened on one side while in the Church - if you need to, step outside the building before removing your mask.
Upon entering and leaving the church, please make use of the hand sanitizer provided in the vestibule.
Holy water fonts remain empty.
All shared use materials (i.e. missalettes) have been removed.
There will be no Entrance, Offertory or Recessional processions.
Please do not sing while in Church, as singing has been found to increase the spread of germs.
The collection will not be taken by passing the basket - please drop your contribution in the box in the rear of the Church. Parishioners can also utilize Online Giving at: https://ctkyonkers.weshareonline.org/ or send their contributions directly to the Rectory via USPS or the mail slot in the Rectory Office door. For help with on-line giving, contact the church office during the week.
Handshakes are not allowed - please nod or wave during the sign of peace.
Modifications for receiving Holy Communion are as follows... only one line will be used, maintaining 6’ of distance from others masks will remain on when receiving, so communion will be distributed in the hand only, not on the
tongue; hold your hands out and open, so the priest may place the host onto your palm after receiving the host, move several feet to the side (the front of the statue of Christ the King or the
Blessed Mother is suggested), and only then, lower your mask to consume the host after placing the host in your mouth, replace your mask before returning to your seat
After each Mass, all surfaces that are regularly touched – door handles, pews, restroom areas, etc. – are cleaned and disinfected prior to the next Mass.
