Action Pistol Division November in Oklahoma – you never know what you’re going to get. On match day, what we got was practically perfect shooting weather. 73 shooters thought so too – or came to play anyway – including a number of first time IPSC shooters. I believe the first squad finished a bit before 3PM and I was about the last to leave, before 4PM – not bad for a pretty big match. As always, many thanks to all those who came to help setup on Friday, and those who stayed to help tear down after the match. That’s what makes these matches possible.

The monthly IPSC match results are as follows:

IPSC # 1st

Place 2nd

Place 3rd

Place

Limited 39 Mike Cywrus Chris Pershall Micah Rowe

Limited-10 2 Joe Holmes Bill Janacek ---

Open 7 Heath Vincent Mike Pinto Chris Gober

Production 16 Rob Elston Jamison McCollister Ryan Groves

Revolver 4 Javier Martinez Stan Miller Ken Spruiell

Single Stack 5 Chris Comer Matt Johnson Chris Bauer

ICORE

Classic 3 Chris Comer Roger Davis Mike Cywrus

Open 3 Chris Gober Roger Davis Stan Miller

Limited 3 Javier Martinez John Gober Scott Hearn

Looking at the trends in Divisions, it would appear that Limited Division is gaining ground at the expense of Production. I wonder if shooting Minor in Limited and being able to take advantage of high cap magazines is winning over everyone is shooting Minor with a 10 round limit… I’d think so, anyway. Two Important Announcements:

1. The Rifle Range at the north end of the Action Shooting Range is CLOSED, pending a safety review. The use of any firearm on that range is prohibited.

2. 3-Gun matches are suspended for the time-being due to work/scheduling conflicts with those

running the matches. We will advise when they can resume. Our next IPSC match will be December 7th. Come on out and play! Bring a friend. ALWAYS CHECK THE WEBSITE FOR LAST MINUTE UPDATES & SCORES… especially as we head into the winter weather!! The last thing we want is for someone to drive out from far away only to find that we’ve cancelled.

See you on the range!!

Calendar Update Hi Folks;

It’s that time of year again – time to update the OKC Gun Club calendar for 2014 and review your division content for any additions or

changes in content. One of my goals this year is to redesign the website itself, but the important part is the content. I can make most any

changes you’d like, but I need the information from you, the folks in the various divisions. Want to include additional pages? Post your scores??? Special event application forms??? Flash news??? Happy to do it…..

The Calendar:

PLEASE – have pity on me. If you have an event that is on a recurring cycle (like our IPSC matches are the first Saturday of the

month), give it to me that way and don’t make me try and figure it out. The difference is between a single entry and a few extra settings to make it recur as opposed to making separate entries for each and every event. Even if there are some special events that

interrupt, that’s easier to manage an exception.

On the pop-up content for the calendar itself, remember it can be a link to a detailed page or an application form, or just information about the event…AND CONTACT INFORMATION. It’s cheap and easy advertising for new shooters who may not know anything

at all about the event. A short blurb can attract new folks to your event to grow the sport as well as the club. In cases where the repeating patterns go on for the foreseeable future, I can also set that so we don’t have to keep doing

these every year. The IPSC matches are an example where the event repeats off into oblivion; I can turn it off if things change, but otherwise I can forget about it.

Thanks. John Bent

Bullseye Division Update The month of November was the final countdown for this year Bullseye Pistol happenings. We still had our monthly practice match, which from now on will be called the “fun match”. We also had the final Probationary Match. Next year we will be having fun matches, probationary matches and our NRA and ORA sanctioned matches.

If you have any questions about Bullseye pistol, it is a very rewarding and demanding shooting sport that has room for beginners and experienced shooters. We have monthly matches during the shooting season that brings people from adjoining states and all around Oklahoma as well. Even with the popularity of the action pistol sports, Bullseye or Conventional pistol as the NRA calls it still has thousands of participants across the country. Our division hopes that next year will we will see an increase in the interest of Bullseye pistol and we welcome all shooters.

Starting in March 2014, we will be having a new shooters orientation every month. These sessions are free to all. Hopefully after seeing how much fun Bullseye pistol is we will have these shooters attend our fun matches and eventually attend our sanctioned NRA and ORA matches.

Each year our division has CMP events including Excellence in Competition (EIC), as issued matches and military pistol matches. It was great fun last year and we expect a better turnout next year.

The more experienced shooters in our division are more than happy to help you in making Bullseye pistol the shooting interest for the 2014 shooting season.

If you have any questions about the activities at the pistol range please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely, Mark Thomas Bullseye Division Chair ([email protected])
