December 2017 Page 1 The Pathfinders enjoyed a busy month. On November, 1, we watched the Los Angeles Dodgers play in game 7 of the World Series. We learned the details of the game as we worked on the Slow Pitch Softball honor with Aileen and Matt Payne leading out. Despite the results, we enjoyed being together and learning about sportsmanship. The following week the Pathfinders hosted a wonderful potluck, and enjoyed a cooking honor with Chef Shomari from Glendale Adventist Academy. Chef Shomari taught the Pathfinders all the basics of cooking. They learned how to poach and egg, how to wash vegetables, make mint tea and ranch dressing! What a treat it is to take advantage of our new kitchen and learn together. Wednesday, November 15 our Pathfinder Club participated in a community project called Operation Christmas Child with Samaritan’s Purse. The club put together 86 boxes to share with children around the world! Thank you to “Teacher Kay” Larsen for leading out in this community project. We took a week off to enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving break with our families and finished the month completing our Drill Honor. This month of December we will only meet twice, this week Wednesday and on Sabbath, and then we’ll be off for the remainder of the month until the Rose Parade fundraiser. We hope you enjoy our time together this month. We wish you all a very Merry Christmas! May Jesus be real in each of your lives and may His love bring you joy and peace this Christmas season. Merry Christmas!!

The Rose Parade

The grand stands are already up on Colorado Boulevard for the 2018 New Year’s Day Rose Parade! This is our Pathfinders biggest annual fundraising

event where we raise funds to go to the world camporee, scheduled for August 2019. We are asking that our Pathfinders please invite all your family & friends to reserve a seat for the Rose Parade. Our club will be so grateful for a $90 donation per saved seat, and $65 per parking space. A hot breakfast, hot drinks and clean bathrooms are provided for all our guests! If you have guests interested please have them contact Herb Ng at email [email protected] or call (213) 216-6493 to arrange payment or have checks made out to Eagle Rock SDA Church, note Pathfinders Rose Parade. Only paid seats will be reserved.

This is a required fundraising event and we will be sleeping over on Colorado Blvd on December 31. Pathfinders are to arrive at 9:00am and stay until the following day until take down is completed. All meals will be provided for Pathfinders and their families. We hope to see all parents and pathfinders at this event to save our space for our guests. If you are unable to attend please inform Virna Chan on the pathfinder email or via text message by December 15. If unable to attend, your family will not be included in the $$ raised. Any Adventurer who will be pathfinder age 10 and in 5th grade the year 2018/2019 may join to sleep overnight, to be included in the money raised for the camporee. Adventurers must be accompanied by a parent. More details to come later this month with timeline & shift assignments.
