Clubhouse Notes

Getting ready for the holidays and the new year? Did you know our downstairs exer-

cise facilities include a cardio room and weight room. The cardio room is comprised

of two treadmills, an elliptical, and two stationary bicycles. The weight room in-

cludes both free weights and fitness machines. The clubhouse facilities are here for

you to enjoy and we hope you use them for a possible new years resolution!

A big shout out to the residents who have celebrated the spirit of the season by help-

ing others in need. Our neighborhood residents have generously donated to the

annual Veterans Collection sponsored by Newport Landing residents John and Judy

Heil .

We also want to thank Brady Miller for his years of service at the clubhouse. Brady is

leaving after December to pursue an internship in his field. Brady is very dependable,

a team player and kind to all. We wish you the best of luck and please know that

you will be greatly missed.

Have a safe and happy holiday season,

- Tina & Julie

OAKS LANDING RECREATIONAL ASSOCIATION ANNUAL BOARD MEETING MINUTES

November 4, 2019

On a brisk moonless night, 22 residents gathered inside the clubhouse at the corner of Oakglen Drive and New-

port Landing to participate in the final meeting of the year.

At 7:00pm, the meeting was called to order by President Frank Roberts who yielded his time to Clubhouse

Manager Tina Lewis, who gave a year in review. Of note, are the following items;

• Almost all of the lights outside the clubhouse have been fixed and are working.

• Tina is looking into getting the lights at the tennis courts fixed.

• Unique Pool Management performed an inspection of the pool equipment and found a leak in the skimmer

line on the main pool. They also need to replace 2 chemical pumps. These repairs will be completed before

the next swim season.

Treasurer Don Eatherton updated everyone on the most current financials of the clubhouse. The current account

balances as of 11/04/2019 are as follows:

• Checking: $4,616

• Money Market: $172.644

• Total Deposits: $220,586.28

The meeting was then open to general discussions and questions. Below is a synopsis of the bigger items that

were talked about:

• The people in attendance voted down a suggestion to put up a fence around the adult pool. Due to that

fact, the pool area will need to be maintained by 3 lifeguards. Because of the extra week of swimming and

the cost of living increase, a $6 assessment will be charged this year.

• The swim team requested the use of the tennis courts during swim meets so they could have extra room to

cheer on their home team Rays. The Board agreed to shut down the tennis courts during the swim meets to al-

low the parents to watch from above.

OAKS LANDING RECREATIONAL ASSOCIATION ANNUAL BOARD MEETING MINUTES

November 4, 2019

• At the urging of the people that attended the meeting, it was agreed upon that smoking would no longer

be allowed inside the confines of the swimming pool area. It is still being discussed, but it appears the smoking

area will be 25 feet from the outside of the chain link fence.

• There will be a swim test this year. In order to swim in the pool without supervision, children under the age

of 10 must pass a swim test administered by the life guard. The swim test will include swimming the length of the pool and treading water for a certain amount of time. Children who pass the swim test will be given a rub-ber bracelet issued by OLRA to be worn at all times while in the pool. Children not wearing the bracelet may

be required to use a flotation device in the pool.

• Also, when a child under 10 years of age is in the water, that child must be supervised by a responsible

person over the age of 16 who needs to be in swim wear, and that person must always be within arms length

of the child in the pool, unless the child has passed the required swim test.

• There will also be new signage at the pool this year helping people with phone numbers of who to call with

questions.

After all questions were answered, the meeting adjourned at 7:45pm.

Dear Remington Oaks Homeowners,

This is notice to the membership of Villages of Remington Oaks that the 2020 Election dead-line to submit your name and bio to be placed on the ballot for the 2020-2023 trustee seat.

The deadline to submit your name and a paragraph bio is 12/10/2019 to ensure this makes pro-duction and mailing deadlines for the HOA. The actual election count will occur in March 2020. Any submissions after 12/10/2019 will be considered late and you would be a write in candidate. The ballot will be mailed with the annual assessment and annual letter to the mem-bership.

Please submit your request to [email protected] and we will get you on the bal-lot. Thank you for your interest to run for a trustee seat.

The Trustees are looking to fill a vacancy on the recreation board for the director posi-tion. Please reach out to the clubhouse and the trustees to discuss the opportunity. Now is a great time to volunteer and get up to speed with serving on the recreation board. Please con-tact us at [email protected]

The HOA has an open trustee seat as Secretary. Please reach out to the HOA at [email protected] to discuss the opportunity to join the HOA board as a trus-tee. This term is from 2019-2022. There is 2 years remaining on the vacant seat. Thank you

Last year during the holidays the entry LED lights at the monuments were torn out of the ground twice requiring thousands of dollars in replacement / electrical service work. If anyone notices persons on the common area monument that look to be doing anything questionable take a photo and reach out to the HOA at [email protected]. Thank you

The 2020 Annual HOA Assessment will be 350.00 for FY 2020. Print and mailing will occur in late December with City and Village Tax Office. Payment due date will be on February 14th 2020 and delinquent on March 16th 2020.

Happy Holidays,

Rick Lord, Tim Boyle, Carolyn Hensel and Dan DeLay

“What Do All of These Acronyms Stand For?”

ROHA, NLHA, OLRA: What You Need to Know

1. So, what do the acronyms stand for? ROHA — Remington Oaks Homeowners Association NLHA — Newport Landing Homeowners Association OLRA — Oaks Landing Recreational Association 2. What does each association actually do?

ROHA governs the Remington Oaks and Chestnut Pointe neighborhoods (AKA the “tree-themed” streets), and NLHA governs the Newport Landing neighborhood (mostly “sea-themed” streets on the other side of Hawkins). Homeowners belong to ONE of the two organizations based on their address. OLRA governs the Clubhouse, swimming pools and tennis courts.

3. Can you give me a refresher on the annual assessments? Each resident receives two assessments each year: one from either ROHA or NLHA, and one from OLRA. The

ROHA and NLHA assessments are distributed in late December and are due Feb. 1 each year. The OLRA assessments are distributed in late January and are due March 1 each year.

4. What, exactly, do the fees cover?

ROHA fees cover common ground maintenance (including Lake Remington), main entrances maintenance, insurance and streetlights for the Remington Oaks and Chestnut Pointe neighborhoods. NLHA fees cover trash pickup, common ground maintenance (including the Newport Landing pond), main entrances maintenance, insurance and streetlights for the Newport Landing neighborhoods. OLRA fees cover Clubhouse maintenance, insurance, swimming pools, tennis courts, fitness rooms, and Clubhouse-sponsored neighborhood activities.

5. I don’t ever use the Clubhouse facilities. Do I still have to pay the OLRA fee? Yes. Per the governing indentures, all households are required to pay both the appropriate Homeowners

Association fee and the Recreational Association assessments. 6. When do I get my 2020 ID stickers and pool guest pass? ID stickers and guest passes will be made available in April to residents who are current on their paid

assessments. Residents must be up-to-date on assessments for both their Homeowners Association and the Recreational Association to receive ID stickers and guest pass.

7. I still have questions. Who do I contact? The back page of the Recreational Association Newsletter features contact information for each homeowners

association. OLRA contact information and monthly meeting minutes are also included in the newsletter. All residents are encouraged to attend both the Recreational Association and their respective Homeowners Association meetings in order to stay informed.
