CAPITAL CAMPAIGN UPDATE

Grateful Hearts – Forward in Faith

Praise God for His generosity in inspiring so many people to sacrifice so generously for our new facility! We still need to close the gap to our stretch goal of $5 million. We are currently just over $4.7 million. Can you make an extra Christmas gift that helps? God bless you!

Loving Father, our grateful hearts are filled with joy

as we remember your blessings.

We look forward in faith, trusting your providence to guide us

by the light of the Holy Spirit.

Make us generous in your service and direct our present efforts to build a parish

life center where your family of faith may continue to flourish for generations to

come.

Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

“T B A O F ” Saint Paul writes to the Romans of his mission to preach the Gospel. This mission flows from the gifts of God. First, it is a response to the gift of Jesus our Savior. Further, it is a response to the gift of Saint Paul’s particular call to be an apostle. He realizes that the gifts he has received demand of him a generous response of love. In this time when it is our custom to exchange gifts, can we take a moment to inventory the gifts God has offered us? The same gift of the Incarnation that brought joy to Saint Paul and his listeners has to rank as the first gift we ourselves acknowledge. What other gifts have we received from God? the gift of faith that enables us to see clearly the beauty of Jesus as our

Savior the gift of Jesus Himself who still comes as Emmanuel to be “with us” in

Holy Communion and waits for our visits in the adoration chapel the gift of the forgiveness of our sins first through baptism and then through

confession the gift of the Church to teach and guide us with the wisdom of the Holy

Spirit the gift of our parish where we are a family of faith nurtured by beautiful

liturgies and rich faith formation in both church and school What about the particular gifts of your own vocation and life story? And how can we, like Saint Paul, offer a generous and joyful response to God in return? What does it look like for us to give ourselves to God in return? Don’t forget to give the Christ-child the very best gift: your heart fully consecrated to live in His love and spread the good news of His coming for our salvation!

Warn the rich people of this world not to be proud or to trust in wealth that is easily lost. Tell them to have faith in God, who is rich and blesses us with everything we need to enjoy life. Instruct them to do as many good deeds as they can and to help everyone. Remind the rich to be generous and share what they have. This will lay a solid foundation for the future, so that they will know what true life is like.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

“Christmas is built upon a beautiful and intentional paradox; that the birth of the homeless should be celebrated in every home.”

~ G.K. Chesterton

It is our goal at Holy Family to have at least two adorers present at each hour on the adoration schedule, so that every adorer can have a partner for scheduling back-up and safety during nighttime hours. Please call or text, Mike Zwack, our Adoration coordinator, at 612.710.5007 if you are willing to make an hour (or greater) commitment each week or for information on the other times available.

We urgently need adorers to fill the times in red.

From a bookish priest, some recommended reading:

The Case for Jesus: The Biblical and Historical Evidence

for Christ by Brant Pitre

It’s hard to imagine as we celebrate Christmas that some people doubt the historical reality of the Incarnation. There is a definite current of thought which wants to reduce Jesus to a “myth” rather than a historical personage. The Bible then becomes nothing more than a collection of moralizing stories like Aesop’s Fables. Dr. Pitre does a wonderful job of countering these sceptics. There is a real Jesus who makes real demands of us and offers us real blessings!
