CONTINUOUS INNOVATION FOR PATHOLOGY

Item Code DescriptionAccu-Edge® Grossing Tools System

The Accu-Edge® Grossing Tools System will allow you to

consistently and easily obtain tissue samples that have a

controlled and uniform thickness. This method of standardised

grossing enables consistent quality in tissue processing.

Accu-Edge® Grossing Tools offer you:

• Consistent and standardised grossing, resulting in the best

processing results

• Tools are easy to clean and decontaminate, minimising

risk of contamination by the tissue

Accu-Edge® Grossing Board

Accu-Edge® Grossing Boards are working surfaces with

easily adjustable wells that allow tissue thickness and size

to be standardised. The wells can be individually adjusted

from 1.5 mm to 3.0 mm. Accu-Edge® Grossing Boards can

be used as a stand-alone grossing area or on your current

grossing bench.

With Accu-Edge® Grossing Boards, you are just a few steps

away from the perfect sample:

• Calibrate the well at the required depth

• Position the tissue in the well

• Place the tamper on the tissue

• Gross it at the desired thickness

Accu-Edge® Grossing Forks

While the Accu-Edge® Grossing Board facilitates the

sampling of solid organs and tumours, some types of tissue

are not amenable for its use. Therefore, Sakura developed

the Accu-Edge® Grossing Forks. The Accu-Edge® Grossing

Forks are available in three thickness sizes: 1.5 mm, 2.0

mm and 2.5 mm.

With the Accu-Edge® Grossing Forks the tissue is held in

place while sliding the blade against the outer surfaces,

resulting in a section of the desired thickness in the gap

between the tines.

Tissue-Tek® Xpress® x Series

Continuous Rapid Tissue Processors

The advanced automation of the Tissue-Tek® Xpress®

Continuous Rapid Tissue Processor continues with the next

generation of the Xpress® platform: Tissue-Tek® Xpress®

x Series, the only rapid tissue processor that actually

speeds up the process. With the improved reagent system,

enhanced QC possibilities and software options,

the histopathology laboratory will achieve new levels of

speed in processing, with an hourly throughput of up to

120 specimens. The Xpress® x Series uses an innovative,

low-wattage microwave technology, improved, molecular-

friendly reagents and traditional vacuum infiltration

techniques to provide consistent, superior results in

record time. The speed and continuous throughput of the

Tissue-Tek® Xpress® x Series allow an even distribution

of cases throughout the day, making workloads more

manageable. Specimen slides now make their way to the

pathologist faster than ever, enabling same-day diagnosis

and thus drastically reducing patient stay and anxiety.

In addition, the process without formalin and xylene

employed by the Tissue-Tek® Xpress® x Series adds a

crucial advantage to the field of molecular pathology.

The Xpress® x Series reagents preserve DNA, RNA and

proteins in the paraffin block, eliminating the need to use

fresh tissue for molecular studies. The reagents provide

excellent morphology, sharp nuclear detail and crisp

cellular images equal to or better than conventional

tissue processing. Compatible with special staining and

immunohistochemistry methods, these reagents can

often eliminate the need for antigen retrieval.

The Tissue-Tek® Xpress® x Series is the only

platform offering you:

• Consistent processing in 1 hour

• An efficient, manageable, continuous workflow

• Same day results by real reduction of turn-around time

• Reduction of reagent usage up to 80%

• Formalin- and xylene-free fixation and processing

TDE™ 30 Decalcifier System

The TDE™ 30 Decalcifier System is based on a simple

electrolytic principle that, in combination with the TDE™

30 Reagent, decalcifies bones. After decalcification by the

TDE™ 30, bones can be sectioned more easily. By using this

technique the duration of the decalcification process is redu-

ced by 60%, which is three times faster than classical techni-

ques (for example, a femur bone section can be processed in

just 15 minutes).

The Tissue-Tek® Quick-Ray™

The Tissue-Tek® Quick-Ray™ System with high quality

punches and preformed blocks brings you one step ahead

of existing Tissue Microarray techniques. The Tissue-Tek®

Quick-Ray™ uses a hollowed tip to remove tissue cores as

little as 1 mm, from paraffin embedded tissue.

The extracted tissue is then inserted into a preformed

paraffin recipient block. The Quick-Ray™ System is the

only system available that uses a ready-to-use paraffin

recipient block. Subsequently, the finished block is

sectioned using a microtome; the sections are mounted on

glass slides and then stained (use of current standard

operating procedures for microtomy and staining).

Each Tissue Microarray (TMA) block can be cut into

300-400 sections at 4-5 µm, which can then be subjected to

independent tests.

The Tissue-Tek® Quick-Ray™ System offers you:

• Ready to use solution for easy Tissue Microarray

preparation

• Standardized recipient paraffin blocks in 4 sizes

• Superior TMA’s in less time

The novel, innovative Tissue-Tek® Paraform® Cassette System eliminates the need to perform manual steps at the embedding centre. Using Tissue-Tek® Paraform® in combination with the Tissue-Tek® AutoTEC® Automated Embedder allows the automation of the time consuming, manual process of embedding. The unique Tissue-Tek® Paraform® Cassette System consists of an outer frame that is compatible with all commercially available cassette printers and microtome chucks, and an inner cassette, which is made of Paraform® material. The cassette preserves the orientation of the tissue sample from grossing through sectioning, eliminating the risk of orientation errors or losing tissue samples. A unique feature of Paraform® is that it is easy to section, just like paraffin wax.

The Paraform® Cassette is compatible with all existing laboratory methods and manual embedding processes. In addition, it can accommodate a variety of specimens, even those requiring special orientation (e.g. skin or arte-rial specimens), in one of the six available cassette types: Standard, Biopsy, Biopsy 13 x 13, Shaved Biopsy, Core Biopsy and Orientation.

VisionTek® DIAGNOSIS

For precise and expert diagnosis a detailed, crystal sharp

image is essential. Through the high quality objectives and

cameras, a superb live image is created and presented on

the widescreen monitor.

With live images diagnostic tools like real-time annotations,

such as distances and area measurements, can be used,

without the need to save the image first. In addition to a

detailed single live image, there is the possibility to show a

multi-view of several live images, together in one screen.

This unique feature provides the possibility of presenting

different stains, of the same tissue, in one overview. As a

result of this direct comparison, live diagnosis of complex

cases is simplified and the time to diagnosis is dramatically

reduced.

VisionTek® SHARE

Images can be viewed by multiple participants on the

same high resolution, making face-to-face education direct

and more personal than using a multihead microscope.

High resolution snapshots of single or multi-view screens

are made, just by the click of your mouse.

VisionTek® CONSULT

Some difficult and complex cases need an expert or second

opinion. When this colleague is within the premises, consul-

ting is easy: the high definition screen makes discussing and

diagnosing cases together extremely easy.

In many cases the expert colleague will not be in the same

department. With the VisionTek® live images can be

shared with remote colleagues anywhere: on another floor,

building, city or even continent.

VisionTek® ARCHIVE

With the VisionTek® the pathologist is in full control of the

archiving and storing process.

The user decides if there is a need to archive and if so,

which slide or specific area of this slide is important to

digitally archive. With the VisionTek® the pathologist

decides exactly why and what to scan, therefore the

recorded images stay small, always in focus and

manageable.

There are several options that can be used to record

the desired area of interest: screenshots, high resolution

snapshots, mini-, whole- or partial- and even z-stacked

scanned images.

You decide what, when and how to archive.
