Before you get started, make sure you have the following on hand:

• Your firm’s logo – JPG or PNG file format

• Your professional headshot – JPG or PNG file format

• Your educational history and professional affiliations

• Your firm’s disclosure and mission statements (optional)

Set aside 10 minutes to build your 1-page value proposition.

In your role as a financial professional, you have high expectations for your vendor partners – including their ability to succinctly communicate core competencies to you. You should be able to do the same for your clients and prospects. The challenge has long been identifying where to start…until now.

Create your personalized value proposition using the Define Your Value Tool. This free resource is offered to you to help you build your brand and win business. When you’ve completed the six steps outlined here, you’ll have a custom value statement that you can print, upload to a website or send via email.

Note: The most common error at this stage is uploading the wrong file type. Ensure that you upload JPG or PNG files only.

Let’s get started. Access the tool at www.massmutual.com/getreal > Use the Define Your Value tool.

Step 1Choose modern or clean layout. You can preview each

format prior to making a selection.

Step 2Upload your firm’s logo (optional) and a headshot of

yourself. The headshot is required, the logo is optional.

Step 3Select your font pairing and color. You can choose from 4

font styles and 5 layout colors. Consider choosing a theme

that complements your firm’s corporate style and colors.

Step 4Enter a title for your value statement (e.g. “Value

Proposition for ABC Widget” or “Helping ABC Widget

Employees Retire with Enough Income”). Then enter your

personal information, including address and phone number.

Complete this section by adding your prospect organization’s

name and retirement plan name.

Step 5You’re almost there! Select the value-add services that you

offer from the list provided. You can modify the standard

text or add custom services of your own.

Step 6Complete the document by adding your education and

professional affiliations.

Step 7Enter your firm’s disclosure statement and/or mission

statement. These are optional fields and may be left blank.

If you decide to keep the standard copy provided, the plan

name and company information you entered above will merge

automatically into the copy.

Step 8Crop your head shot and logo as needed by clicking and

dragging a square across the image. You also have the ability

to rotate the image.

Step 9Click Download to finalize and save your custom value

proposition. You can also e-mail it to yourself to use on a

different device.

That was easy, wasn’t it?
