Del Mar Race of the Day Analysis optixeq.com ANALYSIS by Emily Gullikson An interesting Plot and pace scenario for the G2 Eddie Read Stakes. On both Standard and Surface/Distance there is contention in Quad I. That is notable with not many on OptixRPM listed as E/EP types. The lone E/P runner #2 RITZY A. P. projects to be forwardly placed as the Plot position indicates however as a Circle with the “fire” contention staying late is questionable. #1 OHIO capable to be upgraded ohis Plot position visually, though worth noting this is the first time in his career, he has been placed in Quad I, and not true frontrunner – something to consider with the contention rating. Arguably the class of the field #3 CATAPULT and winner of this race last year, does not “standout” on the Plot as one of those four occupying Quad I, and as a sizeable Circle. He won as QIII Circle in this event last year, and some of the paces and o-tracks this year are contributing factors to size and shape. Looking to get back to his best form #4 SHARP SAMURAI does have back class, and a subtle yet, improving pattern coming back othe layo, and will resume his usual position as a Quad I Square in this event. Given the “fire” contention #6 BOWIE’S HERO will look to capitalize on that coming from Quad IV. He too has been racing back into condition and benefit from his prep at Golden Gate Fields to turn in a solid closing third in the G1 Shoemaker Mile last out. #5 MARKIE’S WATER is a tough read on the Plot both on Standard and Surface/Distance, both positions according to QuadStat win at less than 7%.

ANALYSIS by Emily Gullikson

An interesting Plot and pace scenario for the G2 Eddie Read Stakes. #1 OHIO capable to be upgraded off his Plot position visually, though worth noting this is the first time in his career, he has been placed in Quad I, and not true frontrunner – something to consider with the contention rating.

Arguably the class of the field #3 CATAPULT and winner of this race last year, does not “standout” on the Plot as one of those four occupying Quad I, and as a sizeable Circle. He won as QIII Circle in this event last year, and some of the paces and off-tracks this year are contributing factors to size and shape. Looking to get back to his best form #4 SHARP SAMURAI does have back class, and a subtle yet, improving pattern coming back off the layoff, and will resume his usual position as a Quad I Square in this event.
