8Design Guidelines for Advertisements,

Fixed Elements

Our advertisements with large images are designed

to present KSB and its products in an attractive and

competent manner. The "wave" design element

in the image area provides the KSB brand with a

high recognition level.

1 Image

A large image forms a core element of every KSB ad.

Depending on the medium and the promotional aim,

the image can show a product or another eye-catching

motif. See the KSB photo style guidelines.

The "wave" marking one image border provides the

layout with an easily recognisable formal design

element and ensures that the KSB brand stands out

from the competition.

2 Logo

The logo is placed bottom right and is two-tone in all

the ad formats. In black and white ads monochrome

black is permitted.

3 Text

The headline and body copy appear below the image.

The space between the KSB logo and the image always

remains white in A4 formats. The headline is 80 percent

black with orange accentuations. These may be placed

at the start of the sentence, in the middle or at the end.

For two-line headlines, the orange accentuations should,

if possible, be used on one line only.

4 Sender

There are two options for placing the sender:

1. An extra company name/address line (A)

2. The URL only, directly next to the body copy

(see page 2 (A))

5 Social media link

The social media link comes after the company name or

the URL. The link on German adverts is www.ksb.com/

sozialemedien; on all international adverts the link is

www.ksb.com/socialmedia. Optionally, the link may be

preceded by the text ‘You can also visit us at:’ Subsidi-

aries with their own company logo should only include

a link if they have a website that directs users to their

social media pro� les.

6 Brand claim plus products and services

The brand claim and the line summarising the range of

products and services (Pumps, Valves, Service) have a

� xed place at the bottom left.

The brand claim is not included in very narrow ads that

do not offer the required minimum spacing (B) to the

KSB logo (ads less than 99 mm x 297 mm in width).

The brand claim is not included on advertisements of

KSB subsidiaries with independent corporate brands.

On KSB Service advertisements, the KSB SupremeServ

logo appears in place of the brand claim.

Optional Elements

1 Teasers

A teaser may also be included in the area towards

the left of the image, but only in individual cases. The

majority of adverts must not feature a teaser. If a teaser

is included, it must be positioned in an unobtrusive area

of the particular motif. The teasers appear in orange

and the text is always in white. The height and width of

the teaser are variable and adapted to � t the contents.

A connection between the content of the teaser and the

header is desirable for design purposes.

2 QR code

A QR code can be included in the teaser or positioned

at the bottom on the right, next to the body text. The

use of QR codes is only permitted if the QR code offers

added value. The content it links to must be accessible

over the long term and be optimised for mobile devices

(smartphone or tablet). An explanation of where the

link leads must be provided next to or below the QR

code. The QR code must contain a short URL.

3 Product images

Images in ads with one or two product images are

placed to the right of the body copy (C). Where there

are three or four images (A), these are positioned below

the body copy.

4 Product logos

The product logo is placed left below the product

image. The image size of the product logo in relation

to the KSB logo is speci� ed in the KSB manual, under

"Product logos".

5 Labels/awards

A label or award can be placed in the left image area if

required (B). The size should be as small as possible, but

easily readable.

Further elements can be incorporated into the

layout if needed.

Formats

Overview of standard formats for ads:

A4 (A), A5 landscape (B) and 1/2 A4 portrait (C).

Depending on the requirement of the medium,

the ad is placed on the bleed or in a type area.

1 Borders

A border with rounded corners surrounds ads in a type

area. No border is required for ads placed on the bleed.

2 Dividing line

For ads in 1/2 A4 portrait or 1/2 A5 portrait format that

are not in the type area/print space, there is a dividing

line to the contents area (40 % black, 1 pt).

Format adaptations

As well as standard sizes for ads, there are a series of

intermediate formats. The new format will be created

on the basis of one of the three standard formats. The

KSB logo will be scaled up or down proportionally and

will determine the minimum area of the wave width.

The "wave" itself may not be changed. The image can

be enlarged or shrunk upwardly or to the right/left. The

texts are also de� ned by the standard formats.

Image Format

For standard ads (A4 and 1/2 A4 portrait) there is a

minimum image format as well as a maximum format

to allow greater fl exibility if there is more information

(e.g. product image).

1 Maximum image format

If possible, the maximum image format (A)

for ads should be used.

2 Minimum image format

For ads with more information (e.g. product images (B))

the image proportion can be reduced.

It is not permitted to use less than the minimum image

format (approx. half of the ad format).

Designing is permitted between these two de� ned areas.
