Words from the Development team. Thank you for purchasing the Studio Polygon Lite DLC for OMSI 2! We hope you enjoy it.

We’ve created the Studio Polygon Lite Pack to high detail and accuracy, as well as bringing a

large selection of SETVARs to customise the buses to your needs! This project was initially

started by Reverseidle in February 2018. It was first announced on 16th November 2018 as a

surprise, time passed, restarts happened, big changes occurred, we formed our own strong

development group and v1.1 is now released with huge changes.

There are various people within the community who have helped with this project, from depot

visits, reference photos, inspiration, finding bugs, and a whole load more. If you want to be a

part of making the Lite even better, you can join our Discord server, home to 600+ members,

there’s always conversation happening. Listed below.

General Information.

Addon Description.

The Studio Polygon Lite Pack is a low floor midibus introduced in 2010. It was originally

available in only one body style, which is the wheel forward of the door, and was before the door

forward of the wheel. It comes equipped with a 3, or 4 speed Voith gearbox, Cummins or

Daimler engine, and a varied array of customizability options.

Version 1.0 of this DLC contains 15 unique variations of the Lite, ranging from 11.5m option all

the way to 9.6m, dual door, European LHD spec, all featuring custom Hanover-style displays, 3

destination controllers, 3 ticket machines, accurate handling, speed and soundsets for the 2

engine types included. By default, there are 15 unique bus files, but if you prefer a 3-speed

gearbox, there are options for that, bringing the total number of buses included to 30. In addition

to the countless SETVARs ranging from ticket machines, destination controllers, rear

destination types, stab screen types, and countless other options.

Version 1.1 now includes a completely remade model, new SETVARs, new templates, new

ticket machines, additional systems, added realism, Dual-Door variants, Left-hand drive

variants, a VDV dashboard for LHD variants, additional destination controllers, additional engine

variants, and more.

Version 1.11 now features more seat SETVARs, repaintable doors and window hoppers, a

remade Almex-style ticket machine, and more.

Version 1.14 now contains added proper glowing lightmaps to the Dashboard and TP5800,

enhanced how the Metros work at weekends, added in smashable windows, new rubbish, a

new Force Feedback system that gives forcefeedback under load, harsh braking, idle and more.

Quick Start Just spawned the bus but don’t want to mess about clicking all the correct switches? Here’s

some controls you can use to get driving quicker.

E – Start sequence. Press this button once to turn on the master electrics, again to turn on the

ignition, then hold down a third time to start the engine.

M – Stop sequence. When the engine is fully running, press this button once to stop the engine,

and then again to turn off the master electrics.

D – Engage drive gear. The footbrake must be depressed to engage gear.

R – Engage reverse gear. The footbrake must be depressed to engage gear.

N – Engage neutral gear.

Numpad / - Open/close the main doors. The handbrake must be applied to operate doors.

Numpad . – Operate handbrake.

Numpad 7 – Left indicator.

Cockpit.

1. Engine Start Switch - Press and hold the start button until engine starts. The master switch +

ignition must be turned on and the control button of the gearbox must be in neutral with the

handbrake on.

2. Ignition Switch - This switch is used to turn on the ignition once the main switch has been

switched on. If the ignition switch is turned off while the engine is running, the engine will stop.

The ignition must not be switched off when in motion.

3. Bus Raise / lower switch: Upper Position (Ferry Lift): This switch position raises the vehicle body and increases ground

clearance. It lowers again once more than 10MPH has been reached.

Centre Position: This switch position will return the vehicle to its regular ride height. This should

be selected when the raise / squat functions are not required.

Lower Position (Squat): This switch position will lower the vehicle body, reducing ground

clearance.

4. Exterior Light Switch: Top (0): Lights are turned off, daytime running lights are active.

Centre (I): Side marker lights and width indicator lights are turned on.

Bottom (II): Headlights, width indicator lights, and side marker lights are turned on. Daytime

running deactivated.

on to function.

6. Kneeling Switch - When pressed the boarding step lowers to ~250mm. The switch has 3

positions, and returns to the centre when released. When the lower level of the switch is pressed

and held, the boarding step will start to drop. It will stop descending once the vehicle has reached

the programmed height. Pushing it up returns the vehicle to standard ride height.

7. Reverse Beeper Override - Pressing this switch overrides the reversing beeper for 3 minutes.

Press again to re-enable reverse beeper.

8. Hazard Light Switch - Pressing this switch will activate the hazard lights. The switch will flash

parameters. Might creep forward when stationary with no handbrake applied.

Position N - Only select neutral when the vehicle is stationary and the handbrake is applied.

Position R - The reverse gear may only be selected when the vehicle is stationary and the engine

is idle. The brake pedal must be depressed before changing position to Reverse from neutral.

Never put the gearbox in reverse when driving forward. Note, the footbrake must be applied

when selecting a gear.

10. Fog Light Switch - (Available via a setvar, only turns on if the main beam lights are on.)

11. Door Open button - Opens the front doors. Note, the handbrake must be applied, and

Vix-style Ticket Machine This ticket machine is less basic than the Almex-style, but also less sophisticated than the

Ticketer ticket machine. This machine only has the ability to print tickets.

To turn on the machine, you need to have the bus master switch on, then click the red button.

Allow time for the machine to boot.

Once booted, you will need to press the TRIP button, by clicking “Alt” button (button number 4

as outlined on the diagram below) and then the red X button (button number 2 as outlined on

the diagram below). Once this is done, enter the driver pin which is displayed on the unit itself,

Ticketer Ticket Machine

The Studio Polygon Ticketer ticket machine is currently the most sophisticated UK ticket

machine available in OMSI. It boasts features such as full ticket selling, duty totals, a calculator

and much more.

The Ticketer branding and logos have been licensed for use by Studio Polygon by Ticketer UK

and the design/operation has been approved by them as an accurate representation of the real

product.

Start-up

To turn on the Ticketer ticket machine, turn on the bus master electrics. The Ticketer will turn on

automatically. Wait for the start-up sequence to finish before you can interact with the machine.

Logon

Once the machine has booted, a screen will show prompting you to enter your driver ID number,

which is 40575. You can either enter the pin using the on-screen keypad (defaulted to 4027) or

use the driver card which is located somewhere in the cab below the ticket machine.

Once the ID has been accepted, a screen will appear prompting you to scan your duty totals

ticket. This step is optional. You can either scan the ticket which is located next to the stored

driver ID card or you can press the Skip button. Full functionality of the Ticketer is available with

either choice.

Once you have completed this, a screen will appear prompting you to enter the driver pin

number. Enter the pin using the on-screen keypad, which is defaulted to 4027.

Duty and Trip Selection

Once you have successfully logged on, a screen will appear prompting you to select a duty.

If you have a timetable already active, the duty associated with that timetable will be

automatically selected, and you can press Accept in the bottom right.

If a timetable is not active, you can either select a timetable and continue as stated above, or

you can press the Accept button in the bottom right which will continue without a timetable.

Once a duty has been selected, the trip selection screen will show. Follow the process exactly

as stated above with the duty screen. Once this is completed, the ticket selling screen will show.

Alternate Force Feedback Scripts:

If you’re not a fan of the new Force Feedback system, that’s perfectly ok, there are backup

scripts that return it to normal in OMSI 2\Addons\Studio Polygon Lite and drag the Alternate

Force Feedback scripts into the Studio Polygon Lite directory in the Vehicles folder. If you want

to get the new ones back, either back those 2 scripts up, or verify game files on Steam.

HELP! The bus is screaming at me!

A new bus like this is quite intimidating, especially when it’s blaring alarms at you, and you have

no idea what to do! Don’t panic - Here are some pointers and advice.

Idle Alarm:

You’ll see this icon after 3 minutes of sitting idle, and subsequently a red icon after a further

minute, this comes with an abrasive alarm too.

How do I stop the alarm? Just rev the engine.

DPF:

You occasionally might see this icon (And sometimes with a yellow `CHECK ENGINE` too). This

icon relates to DPF (Diesel Particle Filter) and this basically cleans the soot from the exhaust to

Page 20: Developed by: Studio Polygon Reverseidle, FirstEnviro and ... · 3 General Information. Addon Description. The Studio Polygon Lite Pack is a low floor midibus introduced in 2010

20

keep emissions down. It lasts for 45 minutes and you’ll notice a slight performance decrease

with the buses engine.

What do I do then? Nothing, it’s all fine! Drive as normal, however, you shouldn’t turn the

engine off while this process is happening.

Engine Bay Door Icon:

This icon relates to the engine bay door being open. Just click/drag the engine bay door closed

and it will go away!

I need KM/H:

In picture 1 you’ll see your overall mileage, and at the bottom, current mileage. Just click the

Black button below the screen to switch to KM/H and vice-versa!

How do I move the Dashboard?

Click this button (Where your legs would be), and drag the dashboard with your mouse. Note:

The engine needs to be off, and the electrics on for the dashboard to move!

I have engaged gear, but I cannot move!

If your gear selector is flashing, you haven’t engaged the gear correctly. To select a gear, you

need to hold down the footbrake THEN press the D/R button to engage gear.

Assault Alarm:

As you wish! Just press the assault alarm and enjoy the headache afterwards! (You can press it

again to turn it off.)

Reversing Camera and Interior CCTV Screen:

Look up at the CCTV Screen, lots of static and discolouration! This screen also acts as a

Reversing Camera when the gear is in “R”.

I’ve just spawned the bus and it’s making lots of noise…

This noise relates to the air pressure, or the lack of, just rev the engine until the noise stops, and

air pressure is subsequently built. These 2 icons will appear too.

I’ve just spawned the bus and it’s making a really loud hoover noise…

This noise is the cooling fan, it’s really loud and annoying. You can’t control this, it’s random,

depending on various factors. If you really don’t like it, you can spawn another Lite in and the

next bus in won’t have it.

The passengers have made a right mess!

If you want to clean up, just click the rubbish, it’ll recycle itself :)

The bus repaint appears black

This could be a memory related issue. In a bid to resolve this, you can reduce your main repaint

texture resolution from 4096x4098 to 2048*2048 or 3072*3072 if you notice too much detail

loss, though 2k is optimal.

Destination Displays Formatting Studio Polygon have in-house developed a fully customisable destination display system which

is compatible with Hanover’s Helen software. If you are unfamiliar with how to use this software,

it is not covered in this manual but there are plenty of guides online.

Helen is not essential to using formatting the destination displays, but it is incredibly helpful in

speeding up the process as you are able to edit the look of the displays live rather than loading

into OMSI every time you test a screen edit.

As Studio Polygon have developed these fully custom displays, they are not currently

compatible with other display systems. For that reason, it is recommended that you familiarise

yourself with the formatting and values to use for editing the HOF.

For ease of editing, it is recommended you use software such as HOF Suite which makes it

easier to edit HOF files. If you use this software, it is also recommended that you use with ‘Mask

for supported strings’ disabled as it will allow you to fit in the formatting for the displays.

HOF Structure

Index Name* Use in Studio Polygon displays 0 IBIS 1 Destination (Shown in the ALT selection menu) 1 ANNAX (1) Top line on front display. 2 ANNAX (2) Second line on front display.

3 ANNAX (side) Text to show on the side display. 4 RLB texture Unused 5 IBIS 2 Route number 6 Add Plate texture Unused 7 Krueger texture The name of the image to use as a custom display. Explained

further below. 8 ANNAX front Top line on rear small display.

9 ANNAX rear Bottom line on rear small display. 10 Reverse route Unused 11 Full Display (1) Top line on rear large display. 12 Full Display (2) Bottom line on rear large display.

*Note on name: These are the names that HOF Suite use, these are not relevant to the use with

Studio Polygon displays.

Route number

Setting the route number through the destination controllers supports letters in the number. For

the DG3 and G3 controller, selecting a route number with a letter in is the same, just without

selecting the letter. The lettered route numbers will show on the main selection page with the

rest. For example, to get a route with number X35, enter 35 into the controller.

For letters to work correctly in the controllers, you must fill in index 5 (IBIS 2) in the HOF file. If

you do not do this, it will default to the route number defined in the IBIS code.

IBIS code

There is a specific formatting used in the IBIS code to allow it to work with the Studio Polygon

destination controllers. If the formatting is not set correctly, you will still be able to select a

Page 26: Developed by: Studio Polygon Reverseidle, FirstEnviro and ... · 3 General Information. Addon Description. The Studio Polygon Lite Pack is a low floor midibus introduced in 2010

26

destination through the ALT selection menu but will not be able to select one through the

destination controllers built into the bus.

The format consists of at least three numbers, all of which are outlined below:

Example code: 1036

1: Page number

0: Trip number

36: Route number (without letters)

Character 1 (1-9) The number of the page to be displayed on the front destination. This number must be between 1 and 9, therefore there can be a maximum number of 9 pages per destination.

Character 2 (0-9) The trip number. For example, 0 could be outbound and 1 could be inbound.

Any further characters (0-9)

The route number. This is what the user will type into the destination controllers to select the route. The maximum route number length is 4. For setting a route number with letters in, use only the numbers and omit the letters. For example, use number 35 in the code for route number X35.

Multi-Page Displays

The Studio Polygon displays now support multiple pages. This means for one destination; you

can have different via points that will change automatically. There is support of up to 9 pages for

each destination. You can set the page number using the IBIS code, as explained in the section

above. You should also fill in index 0, “IBIS 1” in HOF Suite. This will ensure the pages are

properly detected.

If you wish to disable this functionality, then you can do so by navigating to Vehicles\[DLC]

Studio Polygon Lite\Script\SP_Core\Hanover\Hanover_constfile.txt and

changing the Hanover_MultiPageEnabled variable to 0.

You can change the speed at which the pages cycle by navigating to Vehicles\[DLC]

Studio Polygon Lite\Script\SP_Core\Hanover\Hanover_constfile.txt and

changing the Hanover_PageDuration variable to how long you desire, this value is in seconds.

Multi-Line Displays

Some displays, such as the front and rear displays, can use two lines. If a second line is not set,

the top line will fill the entire display height.

The small rear display can also display text instead of route numbers, if index 8 is set, this text

will show on the display rather than the route number. Index 9 will then add a second line to this.

Custom Textures

The Studio Polygon displays have the ability to show a custom texture. There are templates

available for this in your ‘Vehicles/SP_CustomDisplays’ folder. Save your image in the

SP_CustomDisplays folder then add the file name (and any sub directory) to index 7 of the

HOF.

Page 27: Developed by: Studio Polygon Reverseidle, FirstEnviro and ... · 3 General Information. Addon Description. The Studio Polygon Lite Pack is a low floor midibus introduced in 2010

27

For reference, one pixel for the displays is equal to 8 square pixels on the template.

When scaling your images, it is important to use the “Nearest Neighbour” method of scale and

not “Bicubic”. If you are not sure how to do this in your chosen program, there is plenty of guides

on Google for this.

To show the correct colours on the displays: make the background transparent and the text

black (or any colour) to show just the text. The inverse will work also for a coloured background

on blank text.

IMPORTANT NOTE: These images MUST be saved in png format to work with the custom

displays. If you experience displays which are solid in colour, you likely have not saved in png

format.

Customising Fonts

As the displays are compatible with the Helen software, you’re able to define each line to use a

specific font by appending the font name to the end of the line.

For example, if you wanted the line “Paignton” to use the font “0808B2E1” as shown in Helen,

you would format this line in the HOF as “Paignton*0808B2E1”. These custom fonts are

available for every line.

If you wish to format the route number, it is the same but just with an N in front, so for example

“Paignton*N1910N3E1”. You are also able to combine the line font with the route number font to

create “Paignton*0808B2E1*N1910N3E1”. Note: the route number formatting is only available in

indexes 1, 3 and 8.

A full list of compatible fonts is shown below.

Customising Positioning

Route Number Positioning

You can choose which side of the front display to have the route number on, left or right. By

default, the route number is on the right. To move the route number to the left, simply add *NL

to index 1 of the HOF (the top line on the front display). An example of this in the HOF would be

“Paignton*N1910N3E1*NL”

Page 28: Developed by: Studio Polygon Reverseidle, FirstEnviro and ... · 3 General Information. Addon Description. The Studio Polygon Lite Pack is a low floor midibus introduced in 2010

28

Row Positioning

If the displays in-game do not match what you have created in HELEN where the positioning of

lines is slightly off, you can move the lines to make them match. To do this, you can edit the

HOF for the lines you wish to move. All lines on all display variants are supported. See the table

below for formatting for this. Movements up to 9 pixels in each direction are supported.

Move Left Move Right Move Up Move Down Prefix *L *R *U *D Example *L1 *R2 *U1 *D3

Example output

Will shift the entire row left one pixel.

Will shift the entire row right two pixels.

Will shift the entire row up one pixel.

Will shift the entire row down three pixels.

An example of how this would show in the HOF alongside font formatting can be seen below:

“Paignton*0808B2E1*D1*L5” will set the font for this row to be 0808B2E1, shift the entire row

down one pixel and shift the entire row left one pixel.

Helen Setup

There is plenty of videos online to teach you how to setup Hanover’s Helen software.

However, to get the most out of the software for the Studio Polygon displays, it is recommended

to use the following display sizes:

Front display: 144x19

Side display: 96x8

Small rear display: 32x17

Large rear display: 128x17
