NEEDS STATEMENTOptimal care of the patient/family with a Difference in

Sex Development (DSD) requires an interdisciplinary

team approach, with an emphasis on family-centered

care/decision-making. Although this is a standard to

which centers caring for these patients/their families are

called, this has not yet been fully realized.

OVERVIEW AND TARGET AUDIENCEThis conference will be of interest to healthcare providers,

patients and their families, and patient/family advocates

with an interest in the care of patients/families with DSD.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVESAt the conclusion of the activity, participants should be

able to:

• Recognize the importance of, and how to integrate, the

patient/family advocate in/into the interdisciplinary

care of the patient/family with a Difference in Sex

Development (DSD).

• Discuss the patient’s/family’s perspective in the care of

a patient/family with a DSD.

• Review evidence-based, patient-specific diagnostic

algorithms (endocrinology/genetics).

• Identify a network of providers/advocates committed

to interdisciplinary, multicenter research in DSD.

CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITMedical: Children’s Hospital Colorado is accredited by the

Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to

provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Children’s Hospital Colorado designates this live activity

for a maximum of 7.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s).™

Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with

the extent of their participation in the activity.

Other: A certificate of general attendance will be available

Campus at Children’s Hospital Colorado, 13123 East 16th

Avenue, Aurora, Colorado. Please enter the hospital

at the main entrance and take the elevators to the

Conference and Education Center on the second floor.

employees must park in their designated area. Free

parking for conference guests is available on the Lower

Level of the Family/Visitor parking structure, just south

of the hospital’s main entrance.

Support Group conference will begin registration at

July 14th. Clinicians are invited to share in this unique

opportunity to interact with those who are Intersex/

have Difference of Sex Development (DSD) with further

educational sessions and sharing.
