New Device and Programming Software Release With the new device software (RVV0114EN) and programming software (R030701 R01) a number of enhancements have been added. The enhancements are: 1. Wav Files for Alerts and Voice Prompts- A wav file can be used in additional to the Standard/Pleasing Alert Tones. Also, the standard Voice Prompts (e.g., Selective Call) can also be substituted with a wav file. 2. Scan Lists can be given a name for ease of identification. 3. Now an incoming phone number is displayed when receiving GSM SMS messages. This is enabled by setting the GSM Text Message Source Prompt to “None”. 4. The stand-by screen, in addition to showing Mode Settings and Group Information, can also display a zoomed in clock 5. When charging the G1, the backlight can be enabled so the Clock is illuminated. 6. Provide additional options for the accommodating Systems where multiple carrier drops during a transmission are experienced. 7. No more accidental playback of stored messages.-The Playback key button can be PPS programmed for a 2 second delay, preventing accidental playbacks. 8. The backlight can be programmed to be either solid or flashing upon receipt of a page. 9. Added multiple Text Message alert settings to the Menu. 10. Enhanced the 2 Tone Table so each Tone ID (16 total) can be set for 2 tone or Long tone. 11. Expanded the selection of CTCSS (PL) tones 12. Added the PPS option to disable a 5 Tone All Call. 13. Provided additional programming options for displaying information such as Group Name and Zone/Selector Knob Settings. 14. The Voice Memo (personal recordings) feature can be PPS disabled. 15. With MDC voice calls, we now display the ID of the sending unit. This is enabled by setting the Source Prompt to “None”. Bug Fixes are: 1. Provided additional protection for “cross source” label errors.

New Device and Programming Software Release

With the new device software (RVV0114EN) and programming software (R030701 R01) a number of enhancements have been added. The enhancements are:

1. Wav Files for Alerts and Voice Prompts- A wav file can be used in additional to the Standard/Pleasing Alert Tones. Also, the standard Voice Prompts (e.g., Selective Call) can also be substituted with a wav file.

2. Scan Lists can be given a name for ease of identification.3. Now an incoming phone number is displayed when receiving GSM SMS messages. This is

enabled by setting the GSM Text Message Source Prompt to “None”.4. The stand-by screen, in addition to showing Mode Settings and Group Information, can also

display a zoomed in clock5. When charging the G1, the backlight can be enabled so the Clock is illuminated.6. Provide additional options for the accommodating Systems where multiple carrier drops

during a transmission are experienced. 7. No more accidental playback of stored messages.-The Playback key button can be PPS

programmed for a 2 second delay, preventing accidental playbacks. 8. The backlight can be programmed to be either solid or flashing upon receipt of a page.9. Added multiple Text Message alert settings to the Menu.10. Enhanced the 2 Tone Table so each Tone ID (16 total) can be set for 2 tone or Long tone.11. Expanded the selection of CTCSS (PL) tones12. Added the PPS option to disable a 5 Tone All Call.13. Provided additional programming options for displaying information such as Group Name and

Zone/Selector Knob Settings.14. The Voice Memo (personal recordings) feature can be PPS disabled.15. With MDC voice calls, we now display the ID of the sending unit. This is enabled by setting

the Source Prompt to “None”.

Bug Fixes are:

1. Provided additional protection for “cross source” label errors.2. Once you set the Key Lock timeout and saved it, it reverted back to the default value when

you power cycled the G1.  This has been fixed in this release.3. When a Call ID was set to Off Duty the G1 would still alert in the Monitor or Scan Modes, this

has been fixed in this release.4. When a Call ID was set to Off Duty the G1 would, upon receipt of this ID, un-squelch the

speaker when the Mode was set for Revert or Delayed N Revert. This has been fixed in this release.

5. When deleting voice message memory the display, shortly in the process, would go blank potentially confusing the user that the pager has locked up. This is no longer the case as the voice message memory deletion message is displayed until memory is deleted.

1-Wav Files- Wav file can be programmed for alerts and/or for Voice Prompt annunciations (e.g., Selective Call)

A new tab has been added, see the below Music Alert/Voice Prompt Programming.

Up to 16 Music Alerts and 64 Voice Prompts can be programmed. In addition, if the pager is in the programmer, one can play the wav file in the pager or using the computer’s speakers.

A Voice Prompt Index setting has been added to the “H” tab allowing one to select one of up to 64 wav files programmed.

2-Scan List Name- Now a Scan List can be given a name that will be displayed when a Scan Mode is selected.

4&5-Display Information and Enable Backlight when Charging the G1- Three new settings have been added:

Display Receive Information Title- If set to “No”, the display is simplified when showing the Zone, Selector Knob, Function Mode and Channel settings

Display User Information Title- If disabled, the UG=, UN= and IN= are not displayed with the User information.

Charging Backlight- If enabled the backlight will be illuminated while charging the G1. This should be enabled if one chooses to display the zoomed in clock feature.

6- Accommodating Multiple Carrier Drops- There are situations where the Dispatcher may interrupt Carrier multiple times in the course of sending pages. This previously was accommodated with choosing a large enough delay (N) value, but this has its drawbacks. This alternative approach provides another timer to compensate for multiple carrier drops. There are two new settings used to enable this new timer.

First, in Tab B there is the “Record Delay Timer Function” which is used to enable the new timer.

Then in Tab H a “Record Delay Timer” setting is added.

Page 6: hoffmanradionetwork.comhoffmanradionetwork.com/G1_Prog_PPS/New Device a… · Web viewThe delay “N” timer will begin upon detection of Carrier Drop and keeps the G1’s speaker

The operation is as follows;

If the “Record Delay Timer Function” is set to “Disable” the G1 will operate as in previous software releases. The delay “N” timer will begin upon detection of Carrier Drop and keeps the G1’s speaker un-squelched and awaiting the voice message. If Carrier drops after the N timer has expired the pager goes back to stand-by mode.

If the “Record Delay Timer Function” is set to” Enable” the N value timer will begin upon the end of Tone B. After it times out, if another carrier drop occurs the new timer, “Record Delay Timer” will keep the G1 active. As long as Carrier becomes active before this new timer expires the G1 will keep the speaker un-squelched and will store channel activity. The timer is reset each time Carrier is re-asserted and, therefore, this timer can be used for multiple carrier drops. If carrier is not asserted before this timer times out, the pager goes back to stand-by mode.

8- Backlight Control- The backlight can be set to either flash or just turn on upon receipt of a page. A new setting, “Paging Backlight Flash”, is shown below.

10- Created a more Flexible Tone Table – With this release any of the 16 Tone ID entries in a Tone Table can be set for 2 tones or a single (long) tone. A “Tone Pattern” setting has been added that allows one to choose the appropriate signaling.

11-Expanded the CTCSS (PL) selection Table- Thirteen more PL tones can be selected.

13- Options for Displaying User/Zone Information- Two new settings have been added, “Display Receive Information Title” and “Display User Information Title”, simplifies the display by reducing the amount of information shown. For example, the UG=, UN= and IN= shown in the User Information display can be eliminated if this setting is set to “No”.

14- Enabling/Disabling the Voice Memo Feature- We added a PPS setting allowing the enabling or disabling of the Voice Memo feature.
