• Type 1 Diabetes

Type 1 DiabetesType 1 Diabetes

• Immune system attacks beta cells

• No energy (Glucose) can be used

• Victim has no insulinproducing cells

• Insulin-dependent

• Chronic (livelong) disease

• Only 5-10% diagnosed

• Excessive thirst

• Fatigue

• Loss of weight

• Increased appetite

• Feeling sick

• Blurred vision

• Reflex is slower

tongue and lips– Shakiness

• Missing meals• Taking too much Insulin

– Fast heartbeat– Hunger– Lightheadedness

• Large arteries narrow down– Heart attack– Stroke– Poor circulation throughout

• Pancreas Transplantation

• Artificial Pancreas

• Islet Cell Transplantation

• Insulin Injections– Ratio of glucose/ml of insulin injected

• Increase insulin amount in body
