TYPES OF SHOTS USED IN ROM-COMS
OVER THE SHOULDER SHOTIn romantic comedies
over the shoulder shots are used to show that conversation between
two characters is taking place.
This shot could also be used to show that the
characters have potential to establish a relationship.
CLOSE-UPIn romantic comedies close-ups are used to
show emotion. It allows the audience to see the characters face so they
are able to make a judgement on what they
maybe feeling or thinking.
In romantic comedies close-ups help tell the audience
whether the character is in-love, shocked or hurt.
MID-SHOTMid-shots are frequently used to determine the characters body
language towards the other character. This helps the audience
work out if they care for one another or are shy around each other ect. This shot allows the
audience to see the actors in detail whilst also showing the audience
the setting.
LONG SHOTWhen using a long shot the audience are able to see the
characters entire body as well as some of the scenery. Long shots
help the audience judge how much the two characters like or dislike each other because it determines how much space there is between the characters or how close they
are to each other.
