The event is a worldwide initiative showing how individuals, communities, businesses and governments can address the threat of global warming if we resolve to work on it together. aside from the usual switch-off event, the Earrh Hour global community launches Earth Hour Blue, the first crowdfunding platform for the planet. This would allow individuals to fund enyironmental and social projects of their choice through an online donation. For this crowdfunding initiative, World Wide Fund(\&1MF)-Philippines is urging the world to support Baacas for the Philippines, which will share and introduce a climate- smarr fiberglass boar technology to iocal fishermen who lost their boats and source of livelihood to Typhoon Yolanda. In this regard, all Provincial Governors, City Mayors, Municipal Mayors, and Punong Barangays are hereby encouraged to enjoin their respective constinrents to ob'serve Eanh Hour 2014 by switching-off or dim their non-essential lights in their homes, offices, facilities, including streetlights, and other signages within their respective jurisdiction during the Earth Hour on March 29, 2Al4 (Saturday) from 8:30PIt{ to 9:30PM, to send a strong message to take action on global warming, and to support the Earth Hour Blue to heip local fishermen affected by tlphoon Yolanda. Other activities, which Local Chief Executives may pursue, include the use of various communication channels to promote Earth Hour 2014, including o{ficial websites, community newsletter and blogs, and the use of the Earth Day logo for posters and other IEC materials.
