History of Dioxin in MRC-ESERI
January 03: Market searched for Dioxin in Turkey & EU
February 03: Dioxin study business plan prepared
March 03: EPA, EN Standards translated to Turkish
April 03: Institutions for training searched in Europe
May 03: PCDD and PCDF sources, formation and toxicity examined
History of Dioxin in MRC-ESERI
June 03: materials and equipments ordered for EN-1948/1-2 ; Contact with MoE, metal recovery firms searched in Turkey for this project
August 03: Extraction and clean-up systems are performed for EN-1948/1-2, first trials
September 03: Calibration of HRMS with standards done
October 03: The results are validated for Accreditation, Recoveries %80-120 for TCDD/F, PeCDD/F, HxCDD/F and %100-140 for OCDD/F
History of Dioxin in MRC-ESERI
November 03: CRM for accreditation ordered; the first real extraction and clean-up trials from adsorbent (XAD-2) studied
December 03: The mistakes of our experimental system searched, clarifying the procedure
January 04: Obtained the higher recoveries in the analyse of CRM

Main Dioxin Sources in Turkey
* Waste Incineration (1 Industrial,7 medical waste incinerator)
* Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metal Production (3 Iron ore sintering facilities, >100 foundries, >100 sec.aluminium producer)
* Power Generation and Heating (5 Power Plants with fossil fuel, 5 Power Plants with Natural gas, 1 municipal compost gas incinerator)
* Production of Mineral Products (40 Cement facilities, >10 Lime prod.facilities
Main Dioxin Sources in Turkey
* Uncontrolled Combustion Processes (Forest fires 8514 Ha/year 2002, Agricultural residue burning)
* Production of Chemicals ( 1 Petrochemistry Facility-156.000 ton/year PVC, 54 pulp and paper facilities-1.762.500 ton paper/year 2003)
* Disposal/Landfill (The most important problem in Turkey, >%80 of daily municipal wastes are handling with wild landfill)
Secondary Aluminium Producers
Lead-Zinc-Copper Recovery

Proposed Measurement Sites in Turkey,Ankara
Results
-MRC will great appreciate getting a role in this project
-MRC will gain strategic assistance in the scope of this project
-Dioxin subject will gain a particular attention by industry and governmental institutions
