!o think about this1 when comparing the *alue of two instruments against each other1 one instruments*alue will go up and one will go down$ !imple supply and demand$ /he more supply the less *alue1 themore demand the more *alue$ Well during the ost-World War ## economic era of %&'( through %&)%the ! was on the gold standard which meant the ! monetary systemwas stable and sound allowingthe power house of the classes-the middle class-to ha*e tremendous purchasing power for their money

allowing their hard work to pay off in the form of sa*ings and in*estments$ , sound monetary systemor currency has a good balance of the supply *ersus demand allowing the *alue of the instrument ofmoney to stay relati*ely high against other instruments such as day to day li*ing e+penses1 housing1raw materials for manufacturing and the ma.ority of real commodities$

2ou see all monetary systems ha*e a shelf life of roughly '3 years1 gi*e or take %3 years and thats whyas the ! entered the %&43s after ending one monetary system in the %&)3s and starting on a new onethere had to be bumps and shakes along the way as society adapted to the new system$ 0ow slowly butsurely o*er time when people would got to the gas pump they were noticing gas prices increasing at afairly steady rate$ 5emember in the early 43s putting in 67 in gas could get you around town for acouple of days and now that wont e*en buy one gallon$

Well the reason for that is do to the supply and demand$ 2ou see its not the tree that has increased in*alue which makes the lumber for homes$ /he tree is no different than it was (33 years ago$ , stone isno different than it was (33 years ago$ !ame thing with a brick1 metal1 steel1 tin1 or any othercommodity$ What has change is the *alue to which you buy those items with$

When we think about supply and demand1 the supply of money has increased e+ponentially comparedto the material that is being bought$ #ts not that the *alue of what is bought has gone up1 its the *alueof the 8medium of e+change9 or money that the *alue has gone down$ ,s a matter of fact1 the *alue hasgone down so much that in in '3 years the ! went from ha*ing a surplus of sa*ing and in*estments tobeing o*er %( trillion1 yes trillion dollars in debt$
