FOOTBIONICS® TECHNOLOGY

Hemispherical Heel Cup Designed to cup the contours of the heel and accommodate varying heel shapes with ease, the unique heel cup shape also utilises the shoe itself for exceptional stability. Offering excellent cushioning and custom-fit options for the practitioner, posting can be added to the heel region for subtle support, or more aggressively to improve rearfoot alignment.

Concave Arch Supportive but not aggressive and designed to eliminate medial arch discomfort commonly caused by orthoses. Extremely well tolerated by patients! The underside of the arch region is contoured upwards so that under load the orthotic flexes downward slightly for the perfect fit and feel. This rounded shape hugs the midfoot reducing plantar fascial stress.

CustomisableFootbionics® can be placed directly inside the shoe without heating where they will conform to the patient’s foot shape with use. They can also be heat moulded at low temperatures for a more customised fit.

Fitting instructions1. Remove any insoles from footwear.

N.B Children’s or BioMedical Ezi-Fit 3/4 orthosescan be fitted over existing insoles.

2. Insert the orthoses you have chosen using thesize chart as a guide. If trimming is need, onlytrim the front and/or outside of the forefootregion. If not heat moulding for a custom-fit, theorthoses are now ready to use.

3. Apply heat if a custom fit is required.

4. Immediately place the shoes on and stand withknees flexed and aligned over the 2nd toes.

5. Your Footbionics® are now ready to use.

The Calibrated Midfoot Compression Wrap allows you to use any of the Weil Digit Straps without covering the entire foot. The material is treated with a hypoallergenic non-slip finish on the inside of the material to effectively hold it in place. The low profile design is well suited for use inside normal footwear.

GEl PRODUCTS

PhysiPod Gel Digital Dot Pads are easy to wear fabric covered gel pads, which can be applied to clawed and hammered toes. The elastic fabric cover conforms and stretches to most toes and easily holds the soft gel pad in place. Gel Digital Dot Pads absorb pressure and friction, to cushion and protect from painful corns, callouses and blisters.

PhysiPod Gel Toe Separators are designed to separate small toes and relieve pressure and friction from clawed and hammered toes, or tight footwear. They gently separate the toes and absorb pressure, reducing irritation to the toes and the interdigital lesions. They are conveniently made and supplied in two sizes.

PhysiPod Toe Props are designed to lift and palliate the apices of the lesser toes. The tapered design follows the web space of the toes and is ideal for the clawed and hammered toe deformities. Made of a medium durometer Silicone, the toe prop eases pain and discomfort to corns and callous by lifting and supporting the toes. Sold separately as left and right.

PhysiPod Digital Gel Caps are designed to protect the apices of fingers and toes from direct pressure. The elastic fabric cover conforms and stretches to most fingers and toes and envelops the digit with a thick soft gel button on the apex. Ideal for use in clawed and hammered toes and fingers, by cushioning the tip of the digit.

The PhysiPod Gel Toe Wedges are designed to fit between the first and second toe, to straighten and re-align overriding toes and relieve pressure from bunions. The soft gel palliates the toes and also interdigital lesions, due to the moulded wedge shape. Painful lesions are also softened by the mineral oil properties released to the skin.

The PhysiPod Bunionette Gel Shield is tailored to protect and palliate the last toe area from friction and pressure from footwear. The thin and contoured shell conforms to the Bunionette and fits most footwear. Easy application and durable, the PhysiPod Bunionette shield can be worn on either foot.

Ypsilon Flow is the AFO of choice for your active patients who need sagittal plane assist. The footplate is engineered to allow the orthosis to adapt to and move with the lower leg with less resistance to ground reaction forces while the proximal ends of the “Y” provide fixation points, eliminating pressure on the tibial crest. Ypsilon®Flow has a heel height of only 7 mm.

Recommended application

Foot drop with no spasticity to moderate spasticity. Limb proprioception deficit and mild proximal deficit. It is recommended that a foot orthosis should be adhered to the footplate of this device.

Contraindications

Design to limit wrist flexion and extension during repetitive hand motion. Made of lightweight, yet durable Kydex plastic, the splint can be moulded for patient customising and positioning. Can also be used as a wrist extension splint to support a weak or flaccid wrist.

To provide support to the wrist and when indicated, limit movement of the wrist. An elasticised nylon brace with a removable aluminium palmar spoon, velcro closures dorsally and a unique non-elastic wrist strap. This together with the aluminium palmar spoon, provides a three point pressure system to effectively control wrist motion.

This strap prevents the forearm muscles from expanding to their maximum contraction, thus relieving the tension on the tendon. A nylon support with slight elastic properties that fits immediately distal to the elbow joint. Tension is adjustable by a velcro strap.

The Compressor is a low-profile lumbar orthosis that provides maximum abdominal support with one easy pull. Its one-handed compression pull tab makes application simple and quick. Breathable comfortable mesh metal material minimises heat build-up common with other spinal orthoses. Indications include acute and chronic low back pain, spondylolisthesis and post-op low lumbar laminectomy. Its lightweight construction is optimal for patients requiring support for everyday activities such as lifting, long periods of standing, work related motions, golf and gardening.

Reduces intradiscal pressure by increasing intra-abdominal pressure. Acts as a reminder to partially restrict motion. Increased comfort and compliance due to the material’s ability to conform and it’s breathability. New laparoscopic surgical techniques and innovative rehabilitation programs are changing the orthopaedic management of spine disorders. Since these procedures have become less invasive and create less soft tissue disruption, there is a need for new orthotic management to complement the spinal treatment program. The Mid-Profile Orthosis provides stability and control only where it is indicated in order to reduce spinal muscle atrophy and deconditioning. This device can be upgraded to a TLSO using the California Ant Thoracic Extension.

The California Catalina Orthosis is easy-to-fit and simple for the patient to don and doff. The orthosis limits motion and provides effective compression for the relief of lower back pain — making it ideal throughout rehabilitation. The Catalina 631 and 637 both deliver effective compression to the region of pain localising the patient’s therapy while maintaining comfort for the patient. The Catalina 637 also contains rigid side panels which provide additional lateral support. The lightweight and low profile design of the Catalina product line allows for individuals to continue normal daily activities without impingement and interference from the orthosis.

CAlIFORNIA SOFT SPINAl

The pre-fabricated California Soft Spinal Orthosis has been designed to alleviate pain, limit undesirable motion and provide circumferential pressure to stabilise the spine. The basic system is modular, comprising rigid components inside a soft and comfortable interface. Indicated for spinal problems between L2 and S1. The orthosis can be effective for more superior spinal problems between T7 and L3, by adding either an anterior, posterior, or combined upper thoracic component. All components can be retrofitted and are modular and interchangeable. Velcro attachable lateral stabilising supports are also available when more control of lateral flexion and rotation is needed.

The anterior and posterior ABS modular component such as the California Anterior Thoracic Extension below can be heated and flared to provide a more intimate fit. This device can be upgraded to a TLSO using the California Ant Thoracic Extension.

To control flexion, extension, lateral and rotary movement of the cervical spine. The anterior section consists of a sternal plate and a mandibular shell connected by a height adjustable aluminium upright with provision for a trachea tube. The posterior section comprises thoracic and occipital shells again connected by a height adjusted aluminium upright. The anterior and posterior sections are held firmly in place by padded shoulder and lateral chest straps. This orthosis has a removable washable foam lining within the polyethylene shells.

To control flexion, extension, lateral and rotary movements of the cervical spine. The foam lined aluminium sternal section is held firmly in place by shoulder bands with crossover straps attaching anteriorly. The occipital and mandibular pieces are height adjustable (to alter flexion/extension) and both are attached anteriorly on the sternal piece.

Made from a sturdy leather construction, with latex bands (stronger and longer lasting than elastic) to provide a dynamic dorsiflexion moment and superior foot lift. The latex band can be set in various positions enabling directional pull to combat equino varus foot/ankle posture. Supplied with both the steel hook and Monohook providing patient’s with greater footwear options. Suitable for flaccid footdrop with minimal ankle instability.

Additional or replacement latex bands can be purchased separately. The Monohook is an option for anchoring the band to the shoe where eyelets are not available.

The abduction bar self-adjusts to the angle of the thigh cuffs and attaches easily. Designed to provide rigidity similar to that provided by a hip spica cast, the Newport Jr with abduction bar is the perfect post-operative orthotic choice. Features of the new abduction bar include: Dual sliding bar design: One bar is slotted for maximum adjustability, and the other has pre-drilled holes for stable fixation Thumb screw stabilizes the desired setting and can be released quickly to facilitate entry into cars, doorways, etc. Adjustable for up to 30 degrees of abduction on each side.

The anatomically contoured proximal section provides greater control of the lumbar spine and pelvic region, improved comfort and patient compliance. The design allows the pelvic section to be adjusted by simply loosening the screws and sliding the pelvic section to the desired width. Hip joints have been offset to provide greater clearance. Rotational adjustments can easily be made to accurately position the hip in the transverse plane. The thigh cuff design with extended medial contour provides greater leverage for abducting the patient’s hip.

Thigh Cuffs

Measure at distal thigh, just proximal to the condyles. Ideal is to fit the cuffs as distal as possible without creating pressure or interference in the popliteal area. However, pressure on the thorax, excessive spinal flexion, or discomfort due to hamstring tightness, may be relieved by moving the cuffs up 1 - 3 inches.

The low cost, multi-purpose sling featuring touch tape compatible straps to provide ease of adjustment. Padded straps increasing patient comfort due to breathability and comfortability of material. The thumb loop reduces slippage of sling and improves wrist support. Sling can be removed without undoing straps to allow easier use. The high attachment point of waist strap provides improved immobilisation of shoulder.

Designed to provide pre and post-operative management of the paediatric shoulder joint. Easily adjustable and lightweight. The adjustment at the shoulder joint and elbow joint allow the clinician to precisely align the child’s shoulder joint and upper extremity. The A-Flex Protective Headgear is fabricated from a flexible plastic that readily conforms to varying head shapes making it easy-to-fit upon demand. The protection is ideal for low impact forces that are distributed across the entire surface without cracking or penetrating. The headgear is equipped with chin straps that are recommended for active and noncompliant patients. The posterior strap “locks” the device below the mastoids and accommodates size variations while the lateral straps are used for easy donning and doffing.

Returned GoodsGoods are supplied by OAPL on a sale basis only. In the event of incorrect deliveries or damaged goods, the customer must notify OAPL within 48 hours of receipt of the goods. Prior approval must be gained before the return of any goods. Goods must be returned within 21 days of the invoice date. OAPL is not responsible for the freight for returned goods. WarrantiesOAPL provides a warranty against defects within the warranty period after the Goods have been delivered provided that:

a. The defects have arisen solely from faulty materials or workmanships; and

b. OAPL is notified of the defect, in writing, within the warranty period; and

c. The Customer provides proof of purchase or the Goods have been registered with OAPL at the time of purchase; and

d. The Goods are identified with a label or serial number, and

e. The defective Goods are promptly returned to OAPL as required by the inspection, Claims and Returns clause 5, at no cost to OAPL, and accompanied by a completed Warranty Claim form.

Excluded from the Warranty are damaged goods caused by wear and tear, damaged caused by improper installation, improper loading of weights, misuse, abuse, transportation damage, incorrect or inadequate maintenance, unsuitable location, undue exposure to elements, unauthorised repairs or alterations carried out by the Customer or third parties, or the misuse of any spare parts or accessories not manufactured or approved by OAPL.

Where a replacement is provided, it may not include replacement of the complete product. Items that are beyond economical repair may be given a credit and a replacement is not readily available. OAPL reserves the right to:

a. Credit the customer in-lieu of replacement; in which case the purchase price of the item will be credited.

b. Conduct a repair of the item in lieu of replacement or credit where appropriate.

Retention of TitleRisk in the goods will pass to the purchaser upon delivery of the goods to the purchaser or release of the goods to the purchaser’s transport carrier. Despite delivery of goods, title to the goods specified on the invoice will remain vested in OAPL and will not pass to the purchaser until the purchaser has paid in full all amounts owing, in accordance with any invoice issued by OAPL in relation to such goods.

Until full payment is made by the purchaser the purchaser takes possession of the goods as bailee of OAPL. Any proceeds of sale of the goods to a third party are held by the purchaser on trust for OAPL until full payment of the invoice is made.

The purchaser grants to OAPL and its servants, agents, employees and contractors the right to enter onto the Purchaser’s premises and remove the goods should payment not be made according to the Terms of Trade.

OAPL shall have all of the above rights notwithstanding that the purchaser defaults or commits an act of bankruptcy or a receiver is appointed of the purchaser’s business or the purchaser goes into liquidation. The purchaser acknowledges that the vendor has the right to resell any of the goods of which it has retaken possession.
