HABITAT FOR HUMANITY In a world where some 827.6 million people live in urban slums, and with that number increasing daily, what better way to assist those in need in your community than by helping with the Habitat for Humanity program? There are many ways for councils to assist with this program. Many people think that they’re not handy, so why should they get involved in a program like this. The answer is you do not have to be handy to help improve your community for your neighbors. Councils can assist with feeding the workers, landscaping, or even picking up trash. If you’re not interested in helping on the job site, but you still want to get involved with the cause, consider working with Hope Builders or supporting Habitat for Humanity with a monthly donation. For more information about Habitat for Humanity affiliations in your community please visit www.habitat.org or email [email protected] . Remember to submit all your work to the Supreme Council office on form Partnership Profile Report with Habitat for Humanity (#10092).

FAMILY ROSARY PROGRAMThroughout the last two years, the Supreme Council has been promoting the 5th Sunday Rosary Programas a means of helping bring parishioners together in a spiritual activity in honor of Mary. Now, we are happyto announce the Family Rosary Program as part of the Building the Domestic Church Series. The new program builds off many aspects of the 5th Sunday Rosary Program, focusing on the fact thatcouncils should regularly and frequently organize a group to pray the rosary at their parishes. Under thenew program, councils are welcome to schedule these parish rosary events on any day of the week, at anytime of the year. With their pastors’ permission, they should personally invite each family of the parish tothese events. Also, as part of the program, Knights should encourage families to regularly pray the rosarytogether in their home. At each Family Rosary Event, offer each attending family a copy of CatholicInformation Service’s A Scriptural Rosary for the Family (#319), encouraging them to read it and learn howtheir family’s faith can be strengthened through a devotion to Our Lady.Available to assist your program are the Rosary Kit (#SR-Kit), which includes 25 finger rosaries andbrochures on how to pray the rosary, and the CIS booklet Scriptural Rosary for the Family (#319).Participants may also use their own rosaries, and Knights are encouraged to use the rosaries that theyreceived during their First Degree. Should councils wish to order additional rosaries or rosary rings, they —along with additional booklets — are available at knightsgear.com.This rosary program falls under the Church activity category of the Columbian Award. Any council-sponsoredrosary service held before June 30 should be listed as a part of 5th Sunday Rosary Church Activity on theColumbian Award Application (#SP-7).
