How to prepare CF CARD ? (concerns FATWARE only - default set system )

There must be one ACTIVE partition on You CF card ! This is very important !!! If I may suggest sth, the best way to do this is to use

WINDOWS XP installation CDROM and Bill`s FDISK.

• In Your PC BIOS, disable all hard drives - VERY IMPORTANT !

• Plug USB CF CARD Reader to Your computer

• Boot Your PC from Windows XP installation cd-rom.

• Few seconds later You will have the possibility to erase all present partitions on CF card - Do it ! Remember - this operation will

completely destroy any data on Your card.

• Make a new partition

• Exit the installer !

• Enable in BIOS all Your hard drives and start WINDOWS

• Format Your CF Card/Divide hard disk using FAT16

• Put on new formatted card whatever You want. Divide handles with : *.sna, *.z80 and *.tap files

The DivIDE is, for the most part, plug and play. There are a couple of things worth remembering when you use one though.

• There are a lot of badly or incorrectly ripped Spectrum games floating around the internet. If you try a game and it does not work, don’t

assume it’s your hardware, it could simply be a faulty file. Don’t assume because it works on your emulator that it will work on the DivIDE

either.

• small number of games need a simple compatibility fix. Jetpack for instance, will not run properly until you execute this command before

typing the usual LOAD “”. If you have a game that seems to load but then crashes, try the following.

1. Press “Extend Mode”.

2. Press “Symbol Shift” and “O” (to get the word OUT).

3. type “32765,48 then press Enter (so the full command is “OUT 32765,48″, without the quotes of course).

4. The Spectrum should say “OK” and a few other numbers, now try loading your game again.

• In this mode DivIDE with +3E rom as may be used as 16bit ide

interface

1. FATware natively supports up to 8 standard FAT-16 partitions (including long file names). It loads TAP, SNA, Z80, SCR

and interlaced SCR files. With FATware you don't need any low-level disk utilities to get up and running - just unplug your

disk or CompactFlash from your PC and plug it to your divIDE

.

2. TESTROM

After start menu you can see in first videoram vertical lines with roll effect. Menu automatically test if kempston joystick

is connect, if no then use only keyboard.

• press key "1" or JOY RIGHT = exit to 48rom (work only on divide)

• press key "2" or JOY LEFT = test 128kB memory

• press key "3" or JOY DOWN = test first videoram

• press key "4" or JOY UP = test fast ram (last 32kB of zx ram)

• press key "5" or JOY FIRE = tape tester

TEST 128kB MEMORY

This test work only on ZX with 128kB memory. On ZX16 and ZX48 detect error (white and green border lines). As first

write byte with page number to each 8 ram pages and verify all bytes. If any byte is incorrect then show white+green

border lines (error or 48kB mode).If 128kB paging is ok then continue in test of all 8 ram pages (during test sign in border

color actual tested ZX ram page (7=white,6=yellow, 5=cyan,4=green,3=magenta, 2=red, 1=blue, 0=black). If detect bad

ram then show small multicolor lines alternating with bold singlecolor lines(color of this bold line sign number of bad page).

After sign error cintinue in testing next pages. At end start 128 test again. You can jump to main menu via RESET.

TEST FIRST VIDEORAM

Test only first videoram memory (16384-32767). At end start test again. If bad memory tested then show RED +

BLACK lines in border.

PRESS reset = jump to main menu.

TEST FAST RAM

Test only fast ram memory (32768-65535). During test show black and blue border lines. At end start test again. If bad

memory tested then show multicolor lines in border. PRESS reset = jump to main menu.

TAPE TESTER

Only easy test for visual control of tape loading. First videoram are continuously rewrite with graphic signing of

TAPE IN status + same TAPE IN status are signed in border area (yellow and blue lines). PRESS reset =

jump to main menu.
