HIMALAYAN MAIL NEWS JAMMU, APR 15 Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr. Raghav Langar today visited Lakhanpur Corridor to take stock of Covid-19 control measures and other amenities for in- bound travellers. Accompanied by DC Kathua, Rahul Yadav, SSP Kathua R. C Kotwal; DC Taxes Department, Ranjeet Singh and other concerned officers, the Divisional Commissioner inspected the Control Room, Sam- pling Centre, Ticket Counter, LMV, HMV cen- tres, Truck yard and took first-hand appraisal of ex- isting mechanism for smooth handling of trav- ellers while observing all Covid guidelines. The Divisional Commis- sioner called upon the con- cerned officers to keep high degree of vigil and ensure strict adherence to SOPs at Lakhanpur in view of recent surge in Covid-19 cases The Divisional Commissioner directed Lakhanpur authorities to strengthen the staff at the Control Room to ensure testing of all the incoming travellers. It was decided that testing of travellers going to Samba, Jammu, Reasi and Udhampur districts will be done at Thandi Khui, Samba whereas rest of the travellers have to undergo Covid testing at Lakhanpur entry point.The directions regarding Proper Circle Marking in front of all Counters to maintain social distancing, Deployment of magistrates, operation of Information Help Desk, marking and proper Signage of counters, proper handling of biomedical waste and making adequate infra to handle Covid-19 related and non Covid emergencies were given to the officers for immediate compliance. The Divisional Commis- sioner directed the DC Kathua to make adequate arrangements for isolation, administrative quarantine and notify paid quarantine facilities for proper han- dling of Covid-19 positive people. Dr. Raghav Langer called for keeping full track of all the travellers and ensure mandatory disclosure of rel- evant information by all in- bound travellers at Lakhan- pur. “Only those who are hav- ing negative RTPCR testing report not late by 48 hrs will be exempted for testing at Lakhanpur,” Raghav Langer added. Provision of backup for uninterrupted electricity at Lakhanpur Facilitation Centre, proper cleanliness and a dedicated Ambulance for Lakhanpur and other amenities were among the issues discussed during the visit of Divisional Commissioner Jammu. Later, the Divisional Commissioner also in- spected 70 bedded Covid Care Centre established at Kharote. The Advisor took detailed review of the department focusing on water supply scenario during the upcom- ing summer season as well as monsoon season besides in depth discussion was held on the Action Taken Reports of previously held meetings on the same mat- ter. Highlighting that the Lieutenant Governor is par- ticular about delivery of ser- vices to the public, the Ad- visor stressed upon the officers that efficient ser- vices to the public should be resolve of public service de- partments on the ground. He impressed upon them to focus on delivery, out- come and grievances re- dressal system so that peo- ple do not face any kind of inconvenience. Speaking during the meeting, Advisor Bhatnagar emphasized upon the offi- cers to provide uninter- rupted water supply to the people besides making all possible arrangements to provide extra drinking wa- ter supply to the consumers during the critical times of COVID-19. He called upon the offi- cials to increase their visibil- ity on ground and take proactive initiatives during the pandemic besides hav- ing a 24/7 complaint re- dressal mechanism to ad- dress the problems of general public. Advisor Bhatnagar im- pressed upon the officials to reduce time taken for restoration of supply, close monitoring of com- plaints received on Helpline numbers, keep- ing reserve stock of criti- cal components, making workshops functional, im- proving quality of water supplies and addressing issues of sedimentation. He also delved upon the officers to ensure that tankers are effectively used to fill gaps of increas- ing drinking water supply demand. Highlighting the need of extra water supply during peak summer season, the Advisor directed the de- partment to put in place a mechanism by which ade- quate supply of potable water is provided to the consumers in the areas, which record increase in demand in the summers. He asked them to chart out provision for hiring of tankers to deal with any kind of eventuality during the peak summer season. Advisor Bhatnagar im- pressed upon the officers that there should be visi- ble improvement in the plan of execution of vari- ous activities as compared to last year. He asked them that machinery and other necessary equip- ments should be main- tained and serviced well in advance for effective use. The Students participatedin the symposium and pre-sented their views about thephilosophy of Dr. Baba Sa-hab Ambedkar.

A short documentary onthe life and contribution ofDr. B. R Ambedkar was alsoscreened for the students.

role of Dr. Ambedkar in thedevelopment of the nationand congratulated the par-

ALIMCO, conducted an as-sessment camp of personswith Disability (PwD) “Di-

vayangs” here at Ramgarhto provide them differentaids and appliances.

A large number of per-sons visited the assessmentcamp, who were attendedby s team of doctors. A de-tailed assessment of eachdisability was determinedand recorded.

It was informed that thePwDs will be provided freeprosthetic aids based on to-day’s assessment during thecurrent financial year. ThePwDs welcomed the hold-ing of the assessment campsat their tehsil and expressedtheir gratitude to the districtadministration.
