THE RACKWe like the 5-Tier, heavy duty wire shelving rack from home depot. You can add multiple shelves and adjust to your specifications.

It also comes with wheels - so it’s easily moveable.

THE LIGHTST5 lights are cheap and great for seedlings.

Remove bulb by twisting it 90 degrees and pulling it out.

Step 1

Remove the ballast by pinching gently. Be careful not to break it.

Step 2

Replace the light the same way that you took it out.

THE LIGHTSEach light has a “male” and “female” end. We will want to set these up altarnating so that we can daisy chain them together.

This will simplify the system and make turning the lights on much easier.

THE LIGHTSUsing the provided zip ties, attatch two lights per row, with male and female ends next to each other.

TIPIt is a good idea to keep all of the male ends of the lights on one side of your rack. This way you can keep all of your chords on one side.

PLUMBINGEach flood tray has a high side, and a low side to create gravity pull on the water.

Drill 1.25” holes in the low side of the flood trays for the drain.

No matter where your trays are at on the rack (top/bottom/other), you will need the same two holes drilled in the low side of each tray.

The only tray that will be slightly different is the top tray, which will also one hole drilled on the high side. This is where we will pump all of the water into the system.

PLUMBINGConnect 1/2” drain elbows into the holes on the low side of each flood tray.

Cut two 10.5” pieces of the 1/2” tubing to attach into the drain elbows. This length will allow each flood tray to drain into the tray underneath it.

Next, connect two 1/2” elbows onto the ends of the tubing.

Page 11: DIY Seedling Cart Tutorial

TOP VIEWPLUMBINGOn the inside of the flood tray, take a 3/4” elbow, with 2” of 3/4” tubing, and attach it to the inside of the drain fitting.

The top flood tray will be set up the same way, with additional fittings set up on the high side as well. Only one hole is needed, and use the same elbow joints.

PLUMBINGNext, we will want to get all of the trays set up in the rack and aligned properly.

You will want the tubing to be pushed up against the edge of the tray.

After you have everything lined up, you can drill two small holes and use the zip ties to hold the tubing against the side of the tray.

PLUMBINGConnect 3 feet of black tubing into the Aqua Active Pump.

Put the pump and tubing inside of the sump, with the tubing coming out of the top of the lid.

Page 14: DIY Seedling Cart Tutorial

PLUMBINGUsing the easy connectors that we have provided, connect the 3’ black tubing with the 5’ black tubing. This will run up the rack and connect into the top tray.

Make sure that the elbows and tubing from the bottom tray feed back into the sump. Be sure that the tubing runs vertically back into the sump, to ensure correct water flow.

READY TO GO!Make sure everything is connected and plugged in. Fill up your sump with water, and give the system a trial run before you add any seedlings.
