Full cost courses tend to be short courses lasting either 1 day or a few weeks and result in a college certificate.

Examples of these courses include•Spray tanning•Hot and cold stone therapy•Basic dressmaking•Cake decorating

However there are additional short course such as the Personal Licence Holders (Award), and Food Safety in Catering that result in an awarding body certificate.

EU/EEA Counties

• A person is ordinarily resident in a country if they normally live in the country by choice, are allowed to live there by law, and return there after temporary trips outside the country.

• British armed forces posted outside of the EU are still ordinarily resident in the UK for eligibility purposes. This means that when they return to England, they do not have to be ordinarily resident in England for three years before being eligible. This also applies to the family members of these people.

JSA •There are 2 types of Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA). Contributions based (NIC) and income based. Both types are accepted by the college.

ESA•If you’re ill or disabled, you may receive Employment and Support Allowance (ESA). There are two types of ESA the work-related activity group, where you’ll have regular interviews with an adviser or the support group, where you don’t have interviews. The college accepts both types.

Universal Credits•Universal Credit is replacing certain benefits in parts of the UK. You may be able to claim if you’re on a low income or out of work. You don’t need to do anything if you’re already claiming any benefits – you’ll be told when Universal Credit will affect you.

Wider state benefits wanting to enter employment•If you are in receipt of other wider state benefits and are currently unemployed you may be eligible for fee remission. Please speak to a member of the Course and Information Team to identify the wider benefits and whether your benefits are eligible.

• The evidence must show your name as the person receiving the benefit.

• Unwaged dependants are not eligible. An unwaged dependant is someone who relies on another person receiving benefits and has no income of their own.

10% Discount for early enrolmentsA 10% discount will be offered for enrolments completed on or before 31 August 2014 for all Darlington College courses starting between 2 September 2014 and 31 July 2015. The discount is only applicable to tuition fees, which must be paid for in full at enrolment.(Exam and registration fees are payable in full and receive no discount).

All tuition fees and awarding body costs are non-refundable, unless the course is cancelled by the college.

For courses with a duration of more than one year the advertised course fees are for the first year only. Additional fees will be payable for the second year.

Ways to payPayment plan•Darlington College offers an instalment payment plan for tuition fees. You are required to pay 25% of the tuition fee at the point of enrolment along with the examination and registration fees. •The remaining 75% of the tuition fee will be collected in monthly instalments by direct debit concluding one month before the end of the course. Failure to make payment on the due date will result in all outstanding fees being immediately due. •Continued failure to pay course fees may result in your removal from the course of study. If you withdraw from your course before completion you will still be liable for payment of all outstanding fees.
