Metallic Bonding
Metallic bonds are chemical bonds where many metal atoms share their pooled valence electrons, creating a “sea of electrons.”
This occurs only in metals and it is the weakest of the 3 types of chemical bonds.
Metal atoms bond together by pooling their valence electrons. These electrons are able to move freely between metal ions.

Metallic Properties
Because valence electrons can move from ion to ion, metals are good conductors of electricity.
A metal’s malleability and ductility is due to the metal ions being able to slide past each other to new positions.
Metals have luster because the valence electrons are free and can easily jump between energy levels.
