Who is the weaker sex? (Tanner)

Boys vs. Girls

A student will be chosen to try to shoot the ping pong balls off the golf tees. Each student will get 6 shots (after 2 practice shots) to try to knock down the 6 ping pong balls.

Class will record the data in a data table.At the end, students will calculate the average number of balls Boys and Girls knocked down with six shots.

Dry Ice Lab (Gaffney/Perry) VL: 2

TASK: Examine states of matter using dry ice. INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Put on goggles.2. Get a piece of dry ice from teacher and place dry ice on table.3. Make observations about the dry ice.4. Place a thermometer in the beaker of water. Record the temperature of water without dry ice.5. Place the dry ice in the beaker and start the timer.6. Record the temperature every 10 seconds for one minute. Share data with teammates.

TEST TUBE EXPLOSIONINSTRUCTIONS:

1. Fill film canister about 2/3 of the way with water. 2. Teacher places a small piece of dry ice in each group’s canister.3. Place the top on the film canister. 4. Make sure test tube is not pointing towards a classmate or towards your face. Watch what happens, and record your observations.
